Hello folks!

Let’s be real: our Dorm Tower system has been a hot mess lately. Between the absolute chaos of unwashed mountains of laundry, unsanctioned strobe lights, and a progression curve so confusing that the best strategy was pretending half the floors didn't exist, it needed a lot of work. And by a lot, we mean like, a lot a lot. We realized surviving PIMD is hard enough and you shouldn't also need a secret spreadsheet hidden under your mattress just to figure out how to level up your crew.

After lots of testing, refining, and feedback, we’re finally ready to roll out a redesigned progression system with brand-new visuals for the Dorm Tower! Our goal is to make upgrades feel better, keep the game balanced, and make sure the Dorm Tower can keep growing in the future.

This update wouldn’t have been possible without the awesome group of volunteer Beta Testers we’ve been working with over the past year who rated the overall changes 4.57/5! That’s 4.0 GPA territory 😎🤘

Update - September 3rd, 6:30 PM

We've seen the comments players have left following our last update and want to address some of the biggest concerns directly:

When will the remaining players receive the Dorm Tower update?
Our last forum update is the most accurate source for the rollout timeline. Our goal remains to have all players moved onto the new system by Halloween. We’re aware that some players received information from support referencing September and apologize for the confusion this caused.

What about the different progression opportunities, especially during the x5 Cash promo?
We recognize that having players on different Dorm Tower systems means not everyone has had access to the same progression opportunities, and we’ve heard your valid concerns about how that carries into the upcoming promo.

With that in mind, every eligible player who has not yet received the Dorm Tower update will get a Rebalance Care Pack Notice giving them +100% Cash Payout for 72 hours, covering the full ATA Day promo from September 4 to September 7.

The Care Pack will cost 10,000 Cash to activate, will only be available to eligible players still on the old Dorm Tower system, and can be activated through the Store. More information on this below.

This boost won't make the two progression experiences identical and we understand that. It’s an additional boost for players still waiting for the update, giving them more earning potential throughout ATA Day while the staged rollout continues.

What are you doing about the impact on the tutor market?
We’re aware of the concerns around the tutor market and are watching it alongside the broader impact of the Dorm Tower changes on the game economy. We don’t have any additional changes to announce here right now, but we’ll continue looking at this closely and listening to community feedback as the rollout progresses.

Will players who received the update earlier have a permanent advantage?
No. While rollout timing creates a temporary head start for some accounts, the new system’s scaling rewards are designed to help later groups catch up quickly once they get the update themselves.

Our focus remains on moving through the remaining groups carefully, making sure the system is working as intended at each stage, and reaching our goal of having everyone moved over by Halloween. We hope this answers some of the biggest questions we’ve been seeing, we're sorry that this hasn't landed in a way that works for everyone, and we’ll continue sharing updates as the rollout moves forward.

Rebalance Care Pack Notice

We’ve continued reading your feedback about the Dorm Tower rollout and, in particular, the concerns around players being on different systems during the upcoming ATA Day promo.

Every player who has not yet received the Dorm Tower update will receive a Rebalance Care Pack Notice on their account tomorrow (Sept 4).

This Care Pack Notice will include +100% Cash Payout for 72 hours, covering the full ATA Day promo weekend once activated.

To activate the Notice, head to the Store and purchase its associated Care Pack for 10,000 Cash. This Notice will be in the "Solo Bonus Items (One Time Use)" section available until 12 PM Pacific Time on September 7th.

We know this doesn’t put everyone on the same Dorm Tower system right away, but we hope the boost helps. We’re listening, and we’re looking forward to getting the new Dorm Tower into everyone’s hands as soon as we can.

We’ve seen your feedback around the Dorm Tower rollout and wanted to let folks know where things currently stand.

From the start, we’ve rolled out the Dorm Tower update gradually so we can make sure each stage is stable and working as intended before expanding it further. The next stage - expanding the update to the rest of the early-to-mid game players - will happen after ATA Day weekend. Our goal remains to have everyone on the new system by Halloween, with some flexibility if unexpected issues come up along the way.

A Note on Promo + Progression
If you're still on the old Dorm Tower system, the cash and account gains you make during ATA Day won't go to waste. Continuing to upgrade your Dorm Mates can help put you in a better position when your account moves onto the new system so you can continue playing at your own pace without worrying if the work you're putting in now will still have value going forward.

We’re also continuing to closely monitor the impact of the Dorm Tower changes across the game as the rollout progresses, including how they affect the broader game economy.

We’ll keep you updated as we move through each remaining stage.

Good news, everyone!

After rolling out the Dorm Tower update to the first wave of early-to-mid game players and making sure everything is running smoothly, we're ready to expand to more players.

Starting today, the update will roll out to a larger group of early-to-mid game players.

If you don't receive the update this time around, you're still part of the rollout and will receive it in a later wave. Like before, if delays or potentially rollbacks are required due to unexpected issues, we will keep you all posted!

Hi folks!
Here's our latest update - please read this through as we've made a few changes to our rollout plan.

To recap, we're rolling out the Dorm Tower update, new Dorm Mates, and revised unlock costs in stages across the player base rather than all at once.

The update is already live for new players, and after spending some extra time working through technical issues and making sure everything is running smoothly, we're ready to move on to our next group: early-to-mid game players, starting today, August 18.

We'll begin by rolling out the update to a small fraction of players in this group. This test group gives us a chance to make sure everything is working as intended before expanding the rollout further.

Once we're happy with how things are performing, we'll expand the update to a larger portion of the group. The remaining early-to-mid game players are currently planned to receive the update sometime in September, giving us more time to see how the new system performs over a longer stretch of play.

Late-game and endgame players will follow in future stages.

If you're not in the first wave of early-to-mid game players, you're still part of this rollout, you'll just receive the update in a later wave. Some players will get access earlier than others, which is a necessary part of rolling out a major update like this gradually. It gives us room to catch anything unexpected, make adjustments where needed, and make the experience even smoother for the players who come next.

This is the current rollout plan for this group of players and is subject to changes, delays or potentially rollbacks if we encounter any unexpected issues as the update rolls out.

We know a lot of you are excited to get your hands on the changes, and we're just as excited to get them out to you. We're working on making sure it'll be worth the wait. We'll keep sharing updates as the rollout progresses. Thanks!

Thanks for your patience while we've taken a little longer than expected to share an update.

As we mentioned when we began the rollout, our plan has always been to make sure the update is having a positive impact on each group of players before moving on to the next. After rolling it out to our first group, we've found that evaluating the results is taking longer than we originally expected.

We are making progress but want to be confident that the early-game progression changes are in a good place before expanding the rollout to more players. Because of that, the rollout will remain paused for now while we continue evaluating the data and making any adjustments that may be needed.

We know many of you are eager to receive the update, and we really appreciate your patience while we take the time to get this right! We'll share another update no later than next Tuesday, even if it's just to let y'all know where things are at.

We wanted to share a quick and important update regarding the release originally scheduled for Group 2: Early Game Players today.

After careful consideration, we have decided to postpone today’s release by a minimum of 24 hours. At this time, we do not have an exact ETA for when the update will go live, but we will share more details as soon as we have a confirmed timeline.

Ultimately, our top priority is the long-term health of the game and ensuring that every update we put out is a positive experience for you so we’re closely monitoring our data and performance metrics to make sure everything is in top shape before pushing it live for the next group.

An Update on Cash Conversions
On a positive note, we’ve been actively reading your discussions and feedback regarding the upcoming economy conversion. Many players have expressed strong concerns about losing hard earned cash during this process and we hear you! We've now modified the conversion process so that no cash will be removed from players when the update goes live 🎉

We truly appreciate your patience, support, and constructive feedback as we work through these adjustments. We’ll update this thread with a new target release time as soon as we have it 🙏🏽💜

So What’s Changing?

Dorm Tower Progression
We’re updating how Dorm Tower progression works so upgrades feel clearer, smoother, and more rewarding. Previously, some upgrades gave better value than others, which could make it feel like skipping certain levels was the best choice. With this update, every level and tier upgrade will now give a clear increase to both stats and plunder. Early progression will move faster so newer players can build up their dorm more easily, while later progression will still feel like a meaningful long-term goal.

Why It’s Worth Upgrading

One of the biggest improvements in the new Dorm Tower is that upgrading your Dorm Mates now helps pay for future upgrades.

Here’s a simple example using made-up numbers:

A brand new Tier 2 Dorm Mate costs $1,000,000.

If you exchange a Tier 1 Dorm Mate without upgrading it, it might cost $980,000.

But if you’ve fully upgraded that Tier 1 Dorm Mate first, the exchange might only cost $830,000.

That means upgrading your Dorm Mates doesn’t just give you more stats and plunder today, it also reduces the cost of moving up to the next tier later.

tl;dr upgrading your Dorm Mates is now the best way to progress. You’ll earn more, spend less on future upgrades, and build a stronger Dorm along the way.

Dorm Tower Costs and Balance
We’re also updating Dorm Tower costs to make progression healthier long-term.

Upgrading within a tier should still feel manageable, while moving into a new tier will feel like a bigger milestone. This helps keep progression meaningful now, while also giving us more room to support future Dorm Tower updates.

As part of this update, we’re also fixing two long-standing issues:

Tutor payouts have been adjusted to better support balanced progression.

Pet stats have been fixed so they no longer count for more power than intended.

Dorm Mates and Dorm Floor Visual Refresh
A new cast of characters have moved into the dorm, including many familiar friends from PIMD stories. Dorm floors also have a new look, with unique art for every floor. Our goal is to make growing your dorm feel more fun and exciting! Check them out below!

When Will Players Get This Update?

To keep things running smooth like peanut butter, we’ll be rolling this update out gradually to groups of players instead of the entire playerbase all at once. No game downtime is expected.

Brand-new accounts will receive this update first, then gradually to our early and mid-game players, and finally conclude with our dedicated late and end-game vets. Our goal is to have a week’s time between each group’s updates, with everyone receiving the updates within a month’s time after launch.

Below is our tentative schedule:

Group 1: New Players
Monday, Jul 20, 2026

Group 2: Early Game Players
Monday, Jul 27, 2026

Group 3: Mid-Game Players
Wednesday, Jul 29, 2026

Group 4: Late + End-Game Players
Tuesday, Aug 4, 2026

If we run into issues with any group, we may delay the next rollout while we investigate and make adjustments. These dates are our current plan, but they may change if needed.

PLEASE NOTE
Because different groups of the player base will experience these updates at different times, you may experience minor, temporary balance variances during parties and even PVP. This is temporary and an expected side effect of a phased live rollout.

Moving Into the New System

We know players have put a lot of time, effort, and cash into their Dorm Towers, so this update has been designed to transition accounts over as carefully as possible.

Here’s what will happen:

Your Dorm Tower progress will be moved into the updated system.

The current 14-tier Dorm Mate structure will be simplified into 11 tiers.

Each tier will have 3 Dorm Mate options: Strength, Balanced, and Intellect.

Dorm Mate choices should be simpler and easier to understand.

Cash Adjustments

Because Dorm Mate costs are changing, some players may receive cash back, while others may have cash adjusted.

If your Dorm Mates would cost less in the new system than what you originally paid, we’ll return the difference to your in-game bank (Cash in Bank balance) when your group receives the update.

If your Dorm Mates cost more in the new system, the difference will be removed from your account, but your cash will never go below 0.

What’s Next?

We’ll be closely watching how these changes perform as they roll out.

This includes things like:

How quickly players are progressing

How upgrades feel at different stages

How party completion times are affected

How the updated costs impact the game

Player feedback and any unexpected issues

If something doesn’t feel quite right, we may make additional adjustments or pause the rollout before moving on to the next group.

This is a major update to one of PIMD’s core systems, and we want to make sure it lands in the best possible place.

ATA would essentially be releasing a new tier alongside this new dorm update if our t14s become t10s, because everyone will have to purchase t11s

so that’s a mess, basically those who put already put the highest t14s will have to waste money evicting and purchasing the new tier 11s 🫩

Your dormmates are getting exchanged with the one closest to their new stats and you're getting a refund for price differences, you can confirm this with anyone that has had the dorm update so far
