I think the death penalty should be stopped.Just imagine one of your own family members being put to death for a crime they didnt commit. Also is death really a punishment?Alot of criminals kill themselves after the crime and the ones that dont get a chance to end up killing themselves in prison. To some death is a gift or relief not a punishment! I personally believe prison is the best punishment for criminals that commit crimes worthy of death.Think about it.People kill other people and flee to other countries just to avoid going to prison. Some will leave their families if it means freedom. The truth is the death penalty does nothing. If it did then why do the toughest and worst always say "I'd rather die than go back".I believe the worst thing you can do besides kill a mans family is take a mans freedom.Tbh when people commit crimes their first thought isnt i could be put to death for this its i could go to prison for this.Prison is a torturous place...a living hell. Its the only place worse than death especially when you have no hope of getting out. I think we should end the death penalty and stick with prison. This also gives the innocent a chance to return to their families alive.
I think Mevodkas idea about solitary confinement was good, and whoever made the point about showing public that killing is wrong then bringing in the death sentence, that was also a good point! I feel kind of torn as to whether its a good thing or a bad thing. I guess it has its pros and cons!
No, I do not think it should be abolished. Sitting in prison rather you get or life it not doesn't guarantee that person will be there for life. They could change their behavior and get parole. As for other crimes that should be punishable by death I believe sex offenders and animal abusers should get death as well. Rather the sexual crime is against an adult or a child it should be punishable by death.
I actually don't believe in the death penalty in any way shape or form...my opinion is a minority it always has been when debating this in class and such. But I don't believe in an eye for an eye. Violence just breeds more violence... The death penalty doesn't refrain people from committing crimes...it isn't a deterrent. It does basically nothing besides kill someone. Also think about all the people who have been sentenced to death who were wrongly convicted....killing an innocent man...yeahhhh that's real smart. This is probably disorganized...never debate while hungover
Some people dont deserve to live?Im glad they have the death penalty where i live???So you telling me serial killers like ted bundy shouldnt have been put to death??People like that need to be put to death?
Ted Bundy was sentanced to death, but was beat to death inside prison and never made it to the chair.
Serial killers don't give a shit about getting killed. it doesn't deter them from killing...it does absolutely nothing
Sex offenders should definitley be put to death like Anya said. But i guess that knowing you're going to be stuck in a place like prison for the rest of your life is bound depress you and put you in misery which undoubtably would make you suffer more. But like the barcode said, some people deserve it and serial killer should be put to death also, to ensure that they wont murder other people which in a way would protect people.
The truth of the matter is the death penalty is a reward more than a punishment. When you murder or rape someone it stays in your head.Murders continuously kill just so they can atop seeing the same dead person over and over then it becomes an itch.Thats also why they dont sleep much same with war veterans.Your brain doesnt let you forget. Now imagine instead of being killed and making go away, being given the rest of your life to see those dead bodies starring at you and haunting you when your awake and when your asleep.Thats punishment and torture along with karma.Death penalty is a gift to serious killers and rapist and punishment to the innocent.
Thats a good point emoji and this is probably abit of an insane theory but if the offender/murderer was messed up in the head enough to commit the serious crime in the first place, is it possible that they could be messed up enough for it not to bother them as much as an average person?
Well yeah I guess it's easier to just die. But when someone is a serial killer or a serial rapist and just won't stop you kind of want them gone lol. Like those people need to off the face of planet. So they NEVER do it again. I mean what if they break out of jail or something?! Then what? It's called capital punishment for a reason. There's finality in death. There are no second chances. You can't get off on parole. Someone can't revaluate your case and say you know guys there are some slip ups in this case. So if someone is 100% guilty for some terrible crime against humanity and is a danger to life on planet earth. By all means off with them. People that far gone won't be affected by years in jail. Because FYI try don't care. Someone who cared wouldn't do something so terrible that death is an option. And in jail they'd still be a potential threat.
There's a case of a man who was convicted and sent to death...who may have been in fact pointed to be the killer by the man who actually killed the person... With cases of wrongful convictions and politic corruption...why would you still support it? Forensics isn't an absolute science and can sentence the wrong people to prison for crimes they didn't commit.
Not an insane theory its actually very true.Yes if you do it enough it can stop bothering them as much but then it becomes a drug.An itch you need to scratch. Now think of what would happen if you put a drug attic in a box for a month and only fed them. They would go crazy get really sick maybe even die because their body needs the drug now it depends on it.Its similar to doing the same to a serial killer or rapist.Doing that stuff to other humans is a drug to them they cant go without it.Thats why some of them end up being transferred to psych wards.
But then i agree with Alice, if somebodys a threat to the world or local people wouldnt it be alot safer to have them gone?
But who's to say someone's 100% guilty? There's been cases where someone has been sentenced to death and after they are killed years later they find the real killer...
