Yep. That's exactly what I'm saying. Because if death is used as a last resort for people that's are such a great danger to society that the life of even the people in charge or guarding them are in danger then common sense says for the good of humanity they need to die. And anyways you people clearly seem to expect the people rotting in jail to die anyway. So doesn't that meaning that you're expecting the same outcome but in far more painful way? Now you've entered into a new realm of twisted. Let's torture them and then let them die. The modern methods of putting people to death are quick and relatively painless. Therefore humane. So if it's done because there's seriously nothing we can do with a person because they've such a menace to the world, then let them begone. What I'm saying in case you haven't picked up on it is that the DEATH PENALTY shouldn't even be considered a punishment. It should be a considered an extreme method used to eliminate a threat to humanity. It should be what we do people who cannot be reformed and allowing them to live would put US in danger. Because I am NOT in favor of the death penalty but everyone keeps saying that in some cases it's necessary. So show me another Hilter or another Stalin then I'll say yes give them the lethal shot that ends it all because THEY are a threat to US.
@Neo Perhaps you should have read my whole statement before commenting on it lol. I simply said I understood where others were coming from. Vast majority here are agreeing "An eye for an eye", and my statement was that I disagree...
Then why isn't anyone fighting to use it as a last resort? Yes keep blaming a punishment and not the people issuing the sentence.
@Alice If you Were against death, & death penalty you wouldn't want anyone to die No matter what. Would you put someone to death if you had to? Eve if it was "Last Resort" not knowing if he/she was guilty or not, or Just not knowing His/Her "State Of Mind"?
^^ what a wonderful contribution to this thread... There's no pleasing everyone. I for one worry as well about what Alice said. That the people dishing out justice could be just as twisted. This kind of goes back to my earlier statement about not liking reading comments about some of the ill things people wish upon criminals. I once commented that I was sickened by some of the comments made by some of the people when an article came out that someone at a local children's hospital where I lived were touching children inappropriately and the response I got was from a man, no idea how old he was, but he said that I was the type of person that if given the chance, he would kill. By no means did I try to justify the actions of the teenager who did wrong to the kids. I simply stated that some of the comments were unnecessary and I get told that I'm the type of person this man would kill just because of my opinion on previous statements being made. With that being said, I get that crimes committed could be a sensitive subject to that family of the victim and families around the world that could have experienced something similar and in that case, I understand the anger that they might have. Either way, there are people out there who might not go through with the plans but can think up of something just as twisted as the person locked up. Thats just the world we live in. Being locked up in prison could be inhumane to some, the death penalty is inhumane to others. It really depends on your mind set.
I believe that it should be. Unlike a sentence to prison, a death penalty is irreversible. Hence if someone innocent got sentenced to a death penalty and was later found not guilty, what good is that? The person thought guilty is already dead. To me, death penalties does nothing except continue the cycle of violence.
We abolished the death penalty in the 60's here in Australia, and I think it's been a great thing for our country. Then again, we have pretty strong anti-gun laws too, so a much lower crime rate than the US.. I've always found it pretty contradictory that America is one of the most religious countries in the world, yet has no qualms about taking a persons' life. Shouldn't that be up to God? Religion aside, I think the victims and their families of those sentenced to death would suffer more in the long run. There's something sick and twisted in being happy that someone has been killed I see most of the comments are based on violent crimes, but all the same, I don't think anyone should have the right to take a human life, regardless of which side of the law they're on.
?Im sorry if someone kills your family member or friends? You just wanna see them rot in jail??I guess im different i wanna see them die?I support death penalty when theres clear evidence that the person commited the crime of murder?
As much as death sentece should stay, it should be gone. 1. In the more economical aspect, it is a very pricey process for many reasons (in which I won't go through details) and I find it a bit ridiculous. 2. In a the more ethical aspect, all human beings have the right to live and I don't think it is very ethical to take it away from someone. However, if the one sentenced did commit a crime like a murder or a rape, they are themselves stepping on the victim's liberty. In that case, it's very hard to tell if a death sentence is the right thing to do, since both parties are taking something that isn't theirs. 3. Many times, innocent people were sentenced to die and I find it very unfair for that person and their family. Even though they get a compensation for the mistake, their loved one will never return. The process are done by human beings and it's clear that mistakes can be made, but when someone's life is on the line, I don't know if it's right to take a risk like that. At the end, I don't think that death sentence is good or bad.
Totally forgot to mention the innocent families of the person sentenced to death.. They're being punished too.
No it shouldn't be abolished. I didn't read all 12 pages but pedophilia for me should be punishable by death. They're destroying parts of the most innocent beings who then have to live the rest of their lives with that bs dictating so much for them.
I think the death penalty should be kept, but only for extreme cases. Often times people might have made a mistake or something and can reform their lives. However, for people such as mass murderers, terrorists, and all the other twisted people that can't get better, it could be useful.
