  1. Praise to everyone that shared their stories.
Me, I don't do that. But I am a smoker, and maybe you get the same thing. I do it to relieve stress. I feel calm and better about myself. Maybe not cutting. What I think is that they just really need someone to talk to and need a better perspective on life. Going on with that train of thought, get some friends and hang out every weekend or play video games. I don't know what you young people do. Social interaction is the key is what I'm getting at.

  2. Self harm is usually caused by bullying or abuse(my op). When some1 gets bullied abused or not even loved , that could lead to self harm In some way.

  3. Self harm is caused by someone choosing to do so

  4. You can save lives by simply being nice.

  5. Self harm isn't just physical, it's also psychological. It can be done through just thinking less about oneself. But I do agree that outside sources do play a major part in it.
And, Billingsworth, I agree with you as well. They do choose to do it to themselves. It's the easy way out. Self-suppuration is also an option, one that is sadly not taken as often. Or at least not as documented.

  6. Self harm can be caused for many reasons. All which is really bad. Whether you have depression (which can be caused by any type of abuse or running in family), abuse (verbal, sexual, cyber, etc.), self hate, etc.  Cutting is just not one type of self harm guys. Eating Disorders, burning yourself, drug abuse are also types of self harms. It is an addiction and if you're thinking of it, please don't. Trust me.  If you know me well enough, you'd know that I am a recovering self harmer, I've been hospitalized, been down that road, and stuff. This shouldn't be in PIMD forums honestly. It'll cause drama.

  7. Truth billings.

And yes cutting isn't the only form of self harm. There's various ways to injure yourself...none of which are beneficial.

  8. Well, unless you're cauterizing a wound. Or stitching your own wounds. But this is the wrong thread to bring this up.

  9. Self harm is not choice, it's a reaction to a cause that ripped you apart, sorry about the metaphors, and that you have no have no idea how to deal with it, but then you realise that it is 'your fault' so you try doing everyone else justice by self harm an tht seems to do something to you, makes you feel better, you are the cause, so you harm the causer and that is justice done, but it's not, you become, again sorry to say this, addicted to self harm, you do it more an more frequently, it doesn't feel as good, you do worse things, start fantasising about Suicide, that is when it gets really bad, that is when you have no chance if getting them back.

That is what self harm is, it is NOT A CHOICE, so fuck off anyone who says that

  10. It is a choice…

  11. It is a 'evil which must be done' in the eyes of the harmer, alright, you think about self harm, but when it is done, you have no choice,

  12. But you choose to do it…

  13. True, you do choose to do it but you don't choose to become addicted.

  14. It's a bit like cigarettes.

  15. Self harm is a choice. And I'm saying that as someone who used to hurt herself.

I was the person who cut and burnt myself. I was the person who starved myself. I was the person who did drugs and drank. That's a choice. No one forced me to do that. I've been forced to do things and hurt myself was definitely not one of them. It is a choice. Take responsibility for your own shit. No one forced you to hurt yourself that's your own shit just like it was my own shit. Suicide is also a choice no one forces you to do it.

  16. Your the one who cuts yourself, no one else, therefore it's a choice. It maybe others who get you to thinking at such a way that you feel like self harming, but it is YOU who takes the choice to physically harm YOURSELF.

  17. No, you have other options. You CAN choose to ignore all the negativity. You CAN choose to better your life. Whether you do it or not is up to you.
A heavy smoker CAN quit. It may not be easy, but it will be worth it.
The problem is you're telling yourself you can't stop. You gave in. That's different. If I fall off a cliff I can't stop falling because gravity. You can just relax, and tell yourself you don't have to do it.
Take a dance or yoga class. Or go jogging. Exercise helps boost happiness. True story.

  18. Yup ? agreed with billings and war king.

  19. Yes, you choose to THINK about Doing it, not actually doing it, as soon as you actually do it, it becomes addictive, like a drug to the pain of your emotional pain

  20. Yes. we can but all people weren't made equally.
