there are different campuses for different regions of the world. time zone doesn't matter because there are multiple different campuses. the only totally channel able to be moderated regardless of time zone or region is forums.
moderators on games, forums, etc where there is interaction between people isn’t something we should have to be grateful for. it’s expected and needed. required. if a game cannot in some way moderate the content posted on it, then.... i don’t even know what to say. i mean come on. really? be grateful?
all i'm saying is be thankful to the people that have volunteered to be moderators. it's a volunteer job with no pay. have a little decency and be glad they wanted to step up to keep the community cleaner. not everyone wants to have to do that work. stop taking them for granted is all i'm trying to say. i don't think it's difficult to give a bit more respect to them. it's pathetic for people to be berating the very people they want more of ー people to volunteer as moderators. do you think it's enticing to get people to apply for it if all you get are insults and complaints, very little recognition? i know i certainly wouldn't. being grateful or being a little more respectful takes very little effort. it's not an outrageous statement for me to make
trust me, i know from experience what it’s like to be a moderator on a game and forum. just because they VOLUNTEERED their time doesn’t mean they’re automatically doing a good job. and honestly we don’t know who is doing what! that’s part of the issue! we don’t even have a comprehensive list of moderators that is easily accessible. in any volunteer job, if the volunteer is not doing what is needed of them, guess what? they don’t get to be a volunteer anymore. if a volunteer can’t reliably do their job and offer so much time, then they are let go as a volunteer. volunteers are needed! and in a lot of cases they get perks, so it’s not like they’re not getting anything. it’s not pay, but they’re enhancing their time for something. in this case, a small amount of power and the ability to speak as much as they want in campus chat. i’ve seen moderators hold conversations in cc while people are asking for explicit photos. i don’t understand how that should be allowed to slide.
also, because you edited your post: in most circumstances, people kiss up to mods. mods are beings of power who are recognized and set apart. again, i think lack of recognition are part of the problem. there is no list of mods without digging through the forum announcements. and the campus chat goes so fast that you hardly notice the name colors and names that go with them. perhaps the pretty obvious issues that THIS community has with moderators points toward a larger issue concerning moderators and the lack of visible moderation? “demographics” making moderating impossible is a weak argument. it can be done, and tons of other games and apps can do it, so why not this one?
i'm not saying they shouldn't be critiqued ー it just needs to constructive and they don't need to be insulted and bashed. and the blame should be on ata for not having enough moderators; not the moderators themselves. that's what i mean. it isn't the moderators' faults that quite frankly it looks like they're overworked. there's too much to moderate and very little moderators in comparison.
where? i’ve not been able to find it, and that’s not exactly something you want people to have to dig for.
Before you enter forums there is a search bar. There isn't a lot of digging required. I'll bump the list of new mods tho
yeah, there's a silencing quota for mods too and inactive mods or mods that don't do their job well enough are dropped by ata. a lot more moderating of the mods goes on behind the scenes than you realize.
not here because of the issues with the game. or maybe it’s the demographics that are just ungrateful ? but almost every other game i’ve been on mods and admins are seen as like magical beings. in smaller, more close-knit communities they’re often gifted and friended. in larger ones they’re seen as intimidating. of course, there’s always drama, but there’s more here than i have seen in a l o n g time.
yeah? i was talking about this game specifically when i asked for people to be a lil more grateful to the mods.
because you said mods get bullied, and i mentioned WITH the example that maybe there’s a reason that this community seems to hostile towards mods. i don’t think it’s just random hatred.
which is an example that this community, again, is not the norm in how it treats moderators. also, i know, the new mods. and no, “well-knownish” doesn’t count as a whole list. there should be a full list of all the current mods that is up to date pinned somewhere. or perhaps the list should have its own page, along with showing which mods are currently online.
i agree with the latter part. it should be easily accessible, similar to how ata has the leaderboard lists set up.
K then go to another community. You either like it here or you don't, everyone doesn't need to change for you
just because i don’t like certain aspects of the community doesn’t mean there’s not aspects that i do enjoy. i don’t know how pointing out differences and problems with something means that i wish to leave. also, you’re implying that you want the community to keep hating and bullying the mods with your message. don’t you want that to change, too? or do you like that the mods get so much crap?
