In a thread that was made to piss and moan. Specifically about moderators. You getting upset that I pointed faults in your friend's performance as a moderator does not bother me. The truth is the truth, if you can't stand the heat get out the kitchen. Better yet, if you don't have the time don't sign on to be a moderator.
this isn't a pıss & moan thread. this was a thread for constructive criticism and your 'criticism' is anything BUT constructive. in no means was OP being rude or directly insulting to mods. you are. you aren't doing anything but complaining and acting holier-than-thou, whereas OP offered some solutions to the problem and didn't really point fingers at specific mods. funny how think i'm upset. i'm not at all. just pointing out to you that you aren't being helpful, you're just acting like one of those "i need to speak to the manager" soccer moms

'less venom' is exactly what i said was the issue. you offered zero solutions and pointed fingers as specific moderators and directly attacked those mods. 'venom' was the issue you convienently cut out the part where he offered a solution to the 'mod problem'
i mean she has a point. just complaining doesn’t really do anything. the thread is meant to be constructive, which means you point out problems and attempt to offer a solution. it’s the reason the thread hasn’t been closed; it’s an ongoing discussion that should be folks trying to discuss solutions and those solutions’ pros and cons. LIKEWISE it’s pretty astonishing that mods would, rather than help attempt to find solutions to problems brought to their attention, respond trying to defend themselves. :/ it’s not about any one specific mod. it’s a larger problem that spans the whole moderation team and their lack of visibility in both their actions AND where they are. no one is telling mods they need to be here 24/7, just that whatever is going on doesn’t seem to be effective. no one knows what the mods are doing (because we can’t SEE it making a difference) and reported silences are coming from those who seem to have very minor infractions as opposed to, you know, the myriad of serious offenders. for instance, i have reported someone talking about their aroused dog many times, and yet every few days the same user with the same in game name arises to continue posting about the dog. that makes it questionable about whether reports are taken seriously (and the need for an alternative reporting system).

i think it's natural to want to defend yourself. if you're being told that you aren't doing anything, than you're going to want to point out that you do do things even if they still don't meet expectations. no one wants the things they do to help out the community, however minute, to go without recognition. it's a natural response imho
a fight takes at least 2 people to occur. man up and take part of the blame for the threads we've gotten locked like i have.
Boohoo over it all you want. Does a solution to we can't moderate WC properly because we have lives too really need to be vocalize by someone on the outside? There job is to moderate, if they can't moderate due to time constraints don't sign on to be a moderator. This isn't rocket science.
no one is saying that they aren't moderating at all except you. the mods say they are moderating, and they just can't moderate 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. that's all. no one can moderate that much! be grateful they are moderating at all. you seem to want moderators 24/7 and since no one can do that, we wouldn't have ANY mods by your 'suggestion' to just not volunteer to be a moderator. how do you know mods aren't contacting ata with suggestions? how do you know that they aren't private interactions between mods and ata? you're only seeing outside suggestions ー which are totally acceptable, because the people being moderated need to have a voice as well ー because you yourself are an outsider, like myself
actually you can, though?? or very damn close to it if you have enough active moderators and know to seek folks from all sorts of time zones. there really is no excuse to not have at least one moderator on at all times. :/ and that’s not really on the mods, it’s on ATA.
