Title: " Bones to Butterfly " "Even the dead can bloom; death did not devour her, it remade her" ♥ ... The topic metamorphosis reminds me of butterflies and death. So I incoporated both as muses to my piece. To symbolize the meaning of life to death and death to life, an endless cycle. The skeleton here isn’t death, it’s proof of transformation. That even after falling apart, life finds a way to bloom through the cracks. Therefore you, too, are still becoming, again and again. ♥ This artwork was made using a mixture of pen, watercolors and guache paint on watercolor paper.

Mental Metamorphosis The philosphy behind the three girls that we see here is the change of mental states. State 1 on the left indicates stillness or stoicism, in this state she often asks herself if she is even a living being. State 2 in the middle indicates her normal self, calm and alive with emotions (hence the tear, unlike State 1). State 3 on the right is when the emotions overflow, the madness kicks in, and the calmness washes away. Feel free to intepret her in your own imaginations. Like why does she has her smile in stitches? Or why is her calm state light and untouched by darkness? And why is state 1 drawn smallest? Most importantly, why do none of these girls look to our direction?
I hope I remember how to do this right.. Oh, thank God.. Explaination of thought process: When I saw the prompt of "metamorphosis", my immediate thought went to a butterfly. However, this is "spooky month", so I knew I had to do something more towards that theme. My first instinct was to go with a supernatural creature that could transform, so I chose a vampire/bat. I then figured that a coffin kinda looks like a chrysalis in a way, and thus, my "Batterfly" was born. (2nd picture is the proof of layers and creation by me)
Spoiler First thing that came to mind with the theme was butterflies and moths and it just couldn't be changed. Then I came across something. A fish. This fish is called a Rainbow Tripod Fish. In it's larvae state, they are beautiful and colorful. Their fin are so big that it looks like they make a perfect circle around them. When young they live closer to the surface and are preyed upon by Jellyfish, squids, and other fish. After surviving the ordeal they swim down into the deep and lose their colorful skin, taking on a silvery blue hue. Their fin grows into long points which they use to stand on the ocean floor.
Mask & Butterflies As butterflies go through their life cycle by creating changes to their body, it also requires them to protect themselves from the harmful acts of their predator. This way, creating a safe space would ultimately help them to embrace its beautiful form. We humans also wear our masks to protect ourselves; this is our way to prevent any harm that would create a rift in connecting our mind to our inner, truest, and most beautiful selves. As we go through our own life cycles, as the mask will slowly remove itself, we can change. <3 Spoiler: Process I tried. The image is still corrupted. T^T. Theme No. 1 : "METAMORPHOSIS" Pondering on the aspects of the theme, I'd chosen to draw and paint one of my favourite blossoms, the Lotus Flower. In this piece, I've decided to depict the varying stages of its life cycle : --As an Unopened Bud (upper left corner) ; --One that has just Begun to Open (upper right corner) ; --When its already Blooming (lower left) ; --Lastly, as it is In Full Bloom , and on its way to developing into a Lotus Seed Pod (lower right) . For the mediums, I'd utilised cold-pressed watercolour paper; as well as a variety of fountain pen inks.

for the metamorphosis theme, I did a literal Metamorphosis drawing. I was gonna do a butterfly, but thought that was basic so did a moth. After I finished I saw someone else had the same idea. Theirs turned out really good and o love it. All the art posted has been amazing btw.

I absolutely love to see the way plants and leaves change from a bright green to a variety of reds, yellow, and purples throughout the season. This particular scene is based on a picture I took of a forest in my backyard where I lived a couple of years ago ❤️ I did attempt a different style than I usually do! I tried to do a pointillist style. I used Arteza acrylic paint markers on a mixed media sketchbook.
