Marija, sexting can be considered sending a sexual message, or sending a nude. Your friend gets caught, the police are going to say the same thing.
Sexting is when you send an electronic message with sexual discourse. This is perfectly legal everywhere. What you are referring to is a nude picture of a minor which is completely different and illegal. Check ur facts.

I know you checked your facts but I'm a police explorer and I asked one of the officers about this. He said as long as there are no images exchanged then there it is protected by your freedom of speech and completely legal(weird,but legal) However the second any sort of nude picture is sent it becomes child pornography which is a serious crime.
I've checked with two officers, both told me the same thing. Maybe it's just your individual Area? Ik things differ. Just within my state, something like sexting in my area would be jail time, where in another area it would be probation.
Don't mean to argue, but child pornography is a federal offense it doesn't change. Same as your first amendment unless youre a terrorist you always keep that. Unless you don't live in the USA. I don't mean to argue but I've been a police explorer for a while and i am very familiar with laws and legal terms. Plus our officers are very intelligent.
Sorry, getting my facts mixed up, that was with a bomb issue. Anyways, police that i've talked to said it's all the same. Feel free to argue all you want, but I'm sticking to the facts I was told from a reliable source, not someone on the internet(not saying your information is incorrect).
Ok that is understandable. I was just getting my side out there cause I've been into law enforcement for a while; and somewhere along the line may end up as an officer.
