Most religions are stem religions ( ie Judaism Islam Christianity) those are the Abrahamic faiths and have come from similar stories, all teach to pray to the one god who is omniscient and in both the bible and quran it promotes as well as war ( in order to defend the weak and needy)( haven't mentioned Judaism as I've not read the torah as yet ) then come other faiths like Hinduism and Buddhism which both believe in one god, the idea that Hindus believe in many gods isn't actually all true as - I believe- they are a means to show the properties or traits of the one god and make it earthly and so easier to understand. With that being said all religions are pretty much the same, all praying to the same person, all believing in life after death, so I don't see the point in feuds between religions on the basis of afew verses being chosen to specifically make a point of hatred. Religion though can be said to have been made to give people a reason or motive to live life, and as most humans would want some reason to do something ( in this case it is to live life) the idea of relic provides them that reason, others may believe in a comply different reason to live, so life with or without religion wouldn't make a difference I think
you guys have some really good points. i just wanted to ask to see more people opnions. thanks guys and gals
Forums are called forums for reason. She also established rules for a reason. I like this subject. It can get outa hand but only when you're with a bunch of little kids.
I was actually Christian for a while before dropping out. I honestly did feel God's presence in my life but there was just so many restrictions... I just dropped out. Now I know I'm going to hell, but I accept it. Lol.
I was baptised and did all the sacraments and what not, but I don't believe in religion. I believe in evolution and science. I don't care what other people believe but what I hate most is when they shove down your neck that you're wrong and god exists and Adam and Eve etc. cause I went to a catholic school, some girls believed, others didn't but teachers constantly tried to push you into religious excursions and masses to which I refused to go. People can practise whatever religion they want, I really don't care but the minute people tell you what to believe and how you're wrong, it's going down! Haha
I think everybody has there own way. We all are supposed to be treated equal no matter what. So who cares if you have a different religion. Don't hate on us because ours is different. Be proud of who you are. And show equality to others who's religion is different.
We don't hate on gays.. Jesus says that all sinners need Him, not just people that know Him already, makes no difference who they are or what they do, people need repentance
This was long. I think we needed religion back in the day. We needed to draw a line. The seven deadly sins are a great example. If you forgot it it's lust, pride, envy, greed, gluttony , wrath, and sloth ( wasn't part of the orginal ) This wasn't just Christians either. There are the bad sides were people took advantage of it to get away with what they desired. Crusader war is an expample a lot of people died. I think people needed to believe in something were they will go to a better place after they died and someone will look after the people they care about. That the people who made their lives miserable or people who did them wrong would be punished after death. There are a lot of different religions. Buddhism were you get reincarnated to something by how you lived in the before life. When animals are worked hard as rend people from other countries visit thinking it's animal cruelty. They don't understand that they believe that the person who was reincarnated into that probably did something in their past life to deserved it ascended this was their punishment. There are so many things people can believe in that it's unbelievable!! Many things that are left unexplained. Science and logic came around which helped us understand how things work. Sure religious people would say this is a tool god gifted us but that's OK bc it's still awesome. My stands on marriage? If the government is involved then it should stay within the law and not religion. Though I don't think gay people should marry in a place we're they believe it's wrong. It's like a slap in the face. racism? Religion did play a part in it and so did the upper class and lower class societies. What most people forget is that every race was enslaved before. It shouldn't be focused on one race. The bible did have slaves in it with rules but again people interpret it in a way they can get away with human cruelty. America is just as bad as other countries when it comes to wars. WW2 soldiers kept bones of people they killed and sent it home as souvenirs. Totally off topic.. it's late. I'm amazed how diverse we are and how we can have so many paths to choose from.
? For you people who want a laugh at religious beliefs ? and teachings ? listen to some songs by tim Minchin ?? However, on a more serious note, I am not religious, but that doesn't mean we can't follow some of the teachings, when you aren't religious, you use common sense and you work through the pros and cons, and most of the time, it follows with religious teachings. But with the points mentioned by OP, I believe that it is better to follow your own common sense and mind set that to strategically slam yourself onto a religion and stay there without moving.
The Crusades were a total failure cause they didn't have the will of God ? War is War, not even gonna talk about the bone stuff.. Were those Japanese or all nations who did that?
Almost all regilions preach kindness and peace, yet so much hate and destruction comes out of it. Its not the religion or its teachings i have a problem with, its the leaders that choose to bend it to their own will.
