 Should they all just be naked, in provocative poses? That'd definitely make me want to work hard to save money, upgrade, build a strong club, help other players learn the game, and participate in the community environment..  It's SOOO important to me that my avatar is as trashy and skanky as possible.. Otherwise I won't be able to learn the game at all 

 

^It would get a ridiculous amount of players which means more income for ATA.

It would go against apple's rules though, else there would be a million pornography apps.

 

 I was being sarcastic, Uni.. Avatars shouldn't be an integral part of the game, when there is so much else to learn.. KaW is also a successful RPG, and they don't have avatars at all.. 

 

Kaw is their first, after so many similar apps they have to start finding different ways. Pimd is ata's second best, and avatars definitely help.

If by success we mean profit and amount of players, I'm going to have to disagree with what you said. Look at the pug hunt avatars for example, even I was considering spending money on one and I've only been back for a few days.

However, if by success you mean how "fun" it is, then definitely.

I know it was sarcastic but you still had a good point to be made  just responding on a serious note I guess. I think it's an interesting topic.

Yes, sex sells.. Yes, there are subtle (and not so subtle) sexual innuendos throughout the game.. Isn't that enough?

Besides, do the people so concerned with how their avatars look strike you as the kind of people who want to spend time and money chasing VIP, or are they here as a quick way to get their rocks off?
