ermmm I'm going to go with what Faye said to make it an easier read. Tbh.. I got to the Macklemore.. Okay skimmed to the Macklemore thing and decided I was done ..
I don't think many understand what questions we are supposed to be asking here. Plus it seems like most people replying to this are not those people who woulda post those threads about "no homo" things and such. But Hey Ho
If feminism is acceptable shouldnt masculinism be to? we men should be allowed to celebrare being men in the same way, but sadly this is deemed as socially unnacceptable
Men are much more liberated in society as compared to women. But, feminism isn't just about female equality. It's actually about equality for both genders. People who misunderstand feminism believe that it's just all about women and their rights. Which, to a certain extent it is. But, what the true feminism idea is that both genders should be considered as equals in society. Power to both genders, not just one. Power to all people, not just a few.
Uh I support this thread but i don't see how religion plays any excuse in this. A hate crime is a hate crime. No matter what you believe.is it ok for me to say all men are pigs because im atheist? Is it ok for me to say black / tanned people are all inferior to me because I'm catholic?.or is it ok to name call homosexuals because the bible says they are wrong? No. Religion is not an excuse, there is no exuses.
I agree, religion shouldn't be used as an excuse to put across what your opinion is. People interpret their bibles/religion differently which is, again, also an opinion.
I like the idea of feminism.... I just don't like a lot of feminist. And men sometimes get shortchanged too so don't forget they need certain rights too. I also don't like feminists justifying everything women do like telling woman not to do something like dressing a certain way in a certain environment is now trampling on their freedoms. And they need to stop villainizing men. Sorry if your hate the patriarchal society we apparently live in (not that it's really patriarchal anymore) but all men aren't oppressing all women. If anything what I see on rise is male oppression by females. ? But that's just snippet of what I've seen from so called feminist... Who were probably just man haters.
I responded to someone's comment because that was easier to read. OP's post tho has left me confuzzled
So this thread about asking others about what they believe on whatever issue is at hand so we can better understand them? Because if we understand each other we're less likely to be hostile and attack one other?
Assuming that's correct, that's actually a very valid point. We should all try to understand the other side of an argument/discussion. That's what I've been taught in debate. My teacher used to say if you're in a discussion where you know very little about the opposing side, you just have to pull out of the discussion instead of inevitably spewing nonsense and making yourself look like a jackass. There's nothing wrong with admitting that you are wrong or that you just don't know something. Do research and ask as many questions as possible on the opposing sides. Not on how to win argument ask opposing sides but knowing what the opposing side believes or stands for. Knowledge of you opposition is just as vital as knowledge of your stance. Never take a position you don't understand. Knowledge and total understanding are the key to a successful discussion. As well as always keeping an open mind and a keen ear, while staying true to your core values.
I hate when people say that feminists are man haters. I find that very ignorant. I consider myself a feminist, yet I have a boyfriend . How can that be if I'm a feminist. Those women who call themselves 'feminists,' and go on massive rants about how they hate men and blah blah, are actually not 'true' feminists. If you're a feminist, you'll understand the true values of what women all around the world are trying to implement. We aren't trying to hate men and kill them all of or whatever people seem to think. We are just requesting a level of gender equality in society. Where women are treated with respect and regard. This also translates to a fair treatment of men in society. Women should be able to dress and act the way they would like, without judgement from men and or society. Also, I hate how some men and women will say that if a woman is dressed 'provocatively,' she is asking to be raped or sexually assaulted. I think this statement alone says more about men than it does so about women. It's basically saying that men are these 'dumb,' 'neanderthal' creatures who possess the inability to control themselves. I would hope that most adult men have control of their mind and body. However, I would say nowadays it's not men who are treating women in a disgusting manner. It's in fact women who are judging other women with respect to their sexuality and the way that they dress. These are also the women who are forever screaming that they're feminists and don't want to be judged. Yet, they do the same. It's frustrating. I hope no one is offended or insulted by my little rant. It's also not aimed at anybody. These are just my thoughts and opinions. I thought I would just say this before someone got angry or got the wrong idea
