Zach is 100% right. Guns don't harm people. People harm people. A gun isn't just gonna stand up on it's own point and pull the trigger.

The constitution/Bill of Rights was created to protect the people of this country from the government. So when they wrote it they were thinking of minutemen, people who can own weapons to protecr themselves in case the government got out of control and started attacking the people. That is the intent and meaning of the 2nd amendment. It is not there for people to own " awesome" guns for hunting and carry weapons because any psychopath can just go to a state or region that carrying a concealed weapon is ok then go off from there. Please keep in mind human kind can be and often is stupid... so I'll leave it at that
Well you are forgetting one thing Dan. Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe Arizona is the only state that has open carry, meaning you don't need to get a license to own a gun. You still need a conceal carry license here.
If the government attacking the people was a legitimate fear at the time the bill of rights was created, I see no reason why it shouldn't be a legitimate fear now. And more importantly, it is a bill of rights. How could one deem something a right at one point in time, and then take it away later? A government that could do that to one so called right should have to trouble doing it to others.
My point is saying the point of the 2nd amendment is to protect the people from the government, not so you have the right to carry guns.
If a psychopath wants to hurt someone, they will. It makes no difference if they have a gun, or a knife, or a rubber chicken.

The history books show that people will use the best weapon they can find to inflict harm on other people. Do you think that there would be no murders if guns had not been invented? If the rubber bath duck was the most lethal thing humans have invented, people would run around slaying each other with rubber bath ducks.
IEx is right I was watching a documentary on guns and they said murders in the USA started to increase when after the civil war the second amendment was made .
I sometimes wish that I was ignorant and was not that into philosophy. It is almost a curse to ask questions about life and people and such.
