The basis of an offensive 'joke' is to belittle/enforce stereotypes on someone, a group of people, an idea/state of being and in my opinion at that point it is not a joke but more of an insult heavily coated in a sense of good nature and ignorance. The 'joke' in question is only funny to those with that preconceived notion that white females are 'easier' than those of other races. This is not true. It is a stereotype. And also racist. You said the person who made the post did not find the joke offensive. But the people that are reacting to the joke may. And for some it may seem hurtful or like a verbal attack. To others they may be okay with it. But the basis is that some people will be uncomfortable with it. And a joke is supposed to be funny, right? In my own opinion, if a statement meant to be a joke is offensive and hurtful to the people reacting to it, it is not a joke. It is not a joke because you are hurting somebody in the process. This is all my opinion. I am okay with opposition. I will not move from this spot without some grand comeback or whatnot. My apologies for I will not be responding for a while...I need to sleep.
Have a good night! But that is what I was trying to say, the person who made the joke isn't as offended by the joke as the people who hear the joke could be. If it is a threat to one person but a joke to another, it may still be a joke. But it does depend on the eye/ear of the beholder.
That is true. People have different tastes in humor. In the case of a lot of the comments being made in this thread..they make me cringe to say in the least. Speaking personally, I do not wish to call things that offend me jokes as they are not jokes to me. I understand that others think of them as jokes though it pains me.
