Wikipedia on "Emo"

  1. that Wikipedia is extremely stereotyped, my parents aren't liberals, and I have passed puberty, so therefor that information stereotypes all Emo people, I believe it is offensive and should be corrected by the main office. So now allow me to define the word, emo. Emo is the state of being emotionally unstable because someone has started to hurt you in a physical, verbal, sexual, or digital way. Those who are affected by bullying will become negative and start to reach closer to their line of suicide. I believe that the main reason why they chose emo was because it is short for emotionally unstable, and because when we are really depressed, we would either cut or think of suicide.

So therefore, don't use Wikipedia as your source because Wikipedia is where everyone can post about it, making it very stereotyped and dumb. Now I will resign from this thread until someone calls upon me in here.
    Yours sincerely

  2. Latin is the base of our english language, its not useless. 

  3. Mhmm, actually, french and German are the main roots of English (yep, we the frenchies invaded England in the 14th century)

Latin is a bit spread in some english words (mostly scientific words) but french is the main flow of it. 70 to 80% of french words are from Latin, which transmitted to english.

So is Latin the origins of English ? Yes and no.

Depends on what do you consider "origin of"

  4. Why would a urologist care if an "emo" exists?

  5. I guess it was a form of sarcasm

  6. I'm not sure if this has been said before here or not, but Wikipedia is based on opinions so its not very trustworthy.

    This was an excellent example

  7. Its the truth. Emos just go with it

  8. Wikipedia is most of the time reliable on SERIOUS subjects.

Whenever you need info on historical (not 100% accurate) scientific, literature, biographies stuff it's going to be pretty good.

I have never seen big mistakes on my researches in Wikipedia.

However, when you look into pointless matters (such as EMO description) you will find inaccurate/jokes about it

  9. That definition sounds about right

  10. Wow. Thank you.

  11. Actually, no. English is a germanic language. Therfore it is closer to Icelandic than french, which is a latin based language.

We also adopted a lot of arabic words, but that doesn't mean that our language is majorly arabic.

Do you have any sources for your claim or did you pull this out of your butt?

  12. 60% of english words are from latin...
    10% are from Greek
    30% from others.
French invaded England in 1066, William the conquerer.
