why are you religious?

  1. Actually I perform White magic :)
    Still practicing 

  2. Didn't read the thread, just the title. Answering: I am not. 

  3. It is! They even added traditions that christians are not suppose to do. not only was it mistranslated but some parts of the bible have been discarded or they burned it. They just got rid of sections of it.

  4. That's true too, the most damage to the bible happened during the Crusades. I still wonder why people have holy wars when killing is an automatic ticket to hell.. I mean that has never ever made sense to me, it was only after the church used god to fight wars did it get re-written to allow you to repent your sins to a priest and be "fully forgiven" when In reality if you truely are religious you answer to the one and only, no one else.

  5. Did you know that most of Christianity is took from Pagan religions?

    Like the Egyption god Hotep.

  6. Egyptian, dogon, and Sumerian always intrigued me the most when it came to religion. I guess if I had to believe in one religion it would be a mix of those three.

  7. I don't believe in any kind of God.

    An atheist? Perhaps so.

I have a few Christian cousins whom I see always going to church and missing family gatherings. I also went to church myself one or two times and thought the praying and stuff they did there was ridiculous(no offense to any Christians). All these turned me away from Christianity.

For Buddhism, a majority of my family are Buddhists. But I refused to be one because I thought the praying was also quite ridiculous and a waste of time.

    :D

  8. For buddhism I've always wondered why people live their lives walking on egg shells when you can't remember any of the past lives you have had. I understand enlightenment though so that's one reason I suppose. But not doing anything even a little immoral has always baffled me, especially when they teach that the world has an equal balance of both.

  9. I have no religion ._. I don't want one it seems like a waste of time plus my teacher said most wars start cause of religion so ._.

  10. He has a good point, but you also can't believe every word the teacher says, most people become teachers because they failed to prosper in their respected fields, just saying :)

  11. They followed the pope didn't they? I think it was bc they followed blindly.

  12. I am religious because I feel there must be something controlling this damn universe.
There is no evidence if God because He wants us to have faith without needing proof.
I am a scientific person who seeks for evidence.... and I even realize this . Ch'ya.

I believe in God Science = Universe.
Why? That is to me what explains why things what they are.

  13. @ and then, well they followed Pope Alexander who used his title for corrupt purposes, which all my assassins creed fans is what the story of number 2 is all about.

  14. @ at saint, I feel like there are too many laws (Quantum mechanics) that govern the universe to have it all be a fluke but my scientific side wont let me answer a question without having 100% proof of it (and even then can still be questioned), so I guess what I'm trying to say is that even though I can't answer how the universe came to be I just look for small pieces of the puzzle to get me through the day and onto the next question that will surly arise.

  15. I have no religion as despite being raised Christian, it didn't seem believable to me. I don't disbelieve there was a man named Jesus Christ, or that religion gives comfort to a lot of people. I do however doubt what is written in the bible and what Jesus was portrayed to be.

I am also learning Latin, although I'm trying to translate psychopathia sexualis 

  16. Atheist, and the only religion I have is my mind 

  17. Raised in a Christian household, it'd be really easy, in theory, for me to have faith. Or so you'd think. I mean...I am religious. Sort of. My grandmother is a Christian and so is my grandfather. He's a youth minister for the children in the juvenile detention center. And, when our pastor is out, he takes over. At times, we've traveled to area churches just to see what they were like. We also went to a few non-local churches.

But he's such a damn hypocrite. He preaches one thing and acts another. I'm not playing it up, and I'm not exaggerating. He's just...crude. Rude. Blunt to the point of anger and pain (in others).

But I'm still religious. Why? Because he's gotta get his due somehow. Because I can't believe that new age scientist stuff. Because I can't believe that after this...nothing. It's not...me. I like mystical, happy shit. Hence, I have my religion. That, and some other bull shit.

  18. And...erm...pardon my non-topic-fitting French? Just the way I'm Feelin.

  19. I don't believe something's controlling us. It just doesn't make sense to me. In my honest opinion, if god exists and is some great supernatural being that controls all, than why do we live in a world where there's lots of violence, hatred and corruption? I'm not saying it should be perfect, but it should be better than it is. Who h brings up a point I've heard somebody say, what if he doesn't have the power?

An egyptian philosopher(who was an atheist) once said,
If god is willing to stop evil, but not powerful enough, he is omnipotent.
If god is powerful enough to stop evil, but is not willing to, he is malevolent.
If god is both powerful enough and willing, then evil should never come, which it does.
If god is neither powerful enough or willing to, then why call him god? I forget this guys name but he was one of the most intelligent men of his time.

  20. Well.. For me, without religion I wouldn't have anything to live for.. Its easier to stray, knowing you won't have any 'consequences' for your actions in this mortal world. Since young, I've had suicidal thoughts. Being religious helps me look at the world differently.
