Am I the only one that's actually shocked that a 13 year has an iPhone? I have a 13 year old daughter and I'd never allow her to have an iPhone or iPod at this age.
I'm 14 now so idgaf immature response And I'm 14 now and have an iPod old iPhone and a new iPhone4 too spoiled?
You can give them an iPod or iPhone, if you don't want them to do anything you don't want them to do, look at their messages, phone calls, emails, apps etc But I am not the one making choices for you Warrior's Helper _Spyder
Spyder, if I was to give my daughter an iPhone it's because I would think she's mature enough to have one, therefor I'd trust her, I couldn't break that trust by looking at her messages or app or anything else... since I think (and it's only my opinion) that a 13 year does not have the maturity needed to defend themselves when it comes to Internet I just don't allow my daughter to have a way to put herself in "danger". And to me this can be dangerous.
I am 11 and I can defend my self from amusement, I am sure she can do the same, but she is your daughter you do the best for her  Warrior's Helper _Spyder
I didn't even have a cell phone that young. My first cell was when I was 13, it was a pre-paid POS, and I only got it because I went away to basketball camp. Until I was 17, the best my phones had was a crappy camera and mp3 capabilities. And I didn't need anything more. Then when I was 17 I bought my first smartphone, a blackberry. At 19, I bought the 3gs. When I have kids, they're not going to have anything special until they're atleast 16.
I have a cell phone thats baisically a ladybug... I play on my i touch which i paid for/earned the money for MYSELF
Well right now I am playing my I touch but tomorrow my dad let's me use FB and get an IPhone 4 Warrior's Helper _Spyder
I trust my daughter...I just don't trust the phsicos here... My daughters 1st mobil she got this year, and it was because it was a need! Even if she wanted to buy it with her own money I wouldn't allow... It's not because can afford that she can own it.., she can afford a gun and it I don't allow her to get one
There are so many corrupt things in this world. I learned pretty young too. But it's helped me mature an look out into the world. That its not black and white. Like a classic. Early exposure should be limited to 13. That's about the time kids learn it in school anyway. Older siblings, television, peers. It's going to happen. Sure it's pretty bad kids know more than the average Joe nowadays, but it's bound to happen one way or another. Nothing we can do about it. Parents approved the apple device, consent was added.
I know kids nowadays know more and learn younger... And I'm one lucky parent that has a daughter who trusts me enough to talk to me about anything, I don't overprotect her, but I think there's a difference between explaining to her the facts of life, and exposing her to them... Call me old fashion, but I think it's a parents job to educate their children, and by educating I include everything... I rather explain to my daughter what sex is about then have a weirdo tell her what he wants to do to her...
