  1. DEAR LORD I'M SLOW!  Sorry so much! I've been writing a LOT, but all on paper.... So I haven't been getting around to writing, SORRY! But here's the rest of chapter 17!

    CHAPTER 17 (Cont.)
Bridget was impatiently tapping her foot in front of the lab room when Kris and Taylor arrived. "Finally. You'd think a failing student would at least show... up on... time..." Bridget noticed how close Kris was to Taylor and her eyes narrowed.
Taylor reacted quickly, "We were held up in detention. Mr. Adams..." she explained hurriedly.
Bridget gritted her teeth, "Whatever, let's just- HEY!" a small group of figures turned the corner, heading towards the lab, "The school day is over, what are you three doing here?" Bridget's expression was suspisious, as Owen, Angie and Destiny spotted the three of them.
Owen spoke up, "Did we miss anything yet?" he asked, as he, Angie and Destiny approached.
Bridget glared at Kris, "What are you trying to pull, Kris?!" she looked furious as Kris glanced at Owen and the others.
"What? Nothing! I need to tell you something!" Kris forced himself to hold eye contact with Bridget's fiery and piercing glare. He motioned for Owen and the others, to go into the lab room.
Owen opened the door, holding it as Destiny walked in, "Ladies first." He chuckled as Destiny raised an eyebrow, entering the room. Angie grinned at him as she went inside. Owen looked back at Kris and Bridget. "We'll wait, then. Taylor, come on, I'd very much like to know more about you." he gestured for Taylor to also go inside, a somewhat subtle way of letting Kris and Bridget be alone.
Taylor looked at Kris, "Take your time." she stated, before walking past Owen, half-curtsying as she did. Owen blushed and closed the door behind him.

    CHAPTER 18

The sounds of fading footsteps, as well as casual chatting, assured Kris and Bridget that the others weren't evesdropping, and Bridget immediately began, "What the hell are you doing?! Why are those three here?"
Kris quickly replied, "Look, there's something I need to tell you-"
Bridget interrupted him, "Look, if it's about JJ, forget it, we're finished, he was to possessive, and I hated how obnoxious and aggresive he'd get towards any guy that so much as looked at me. But I'm not going to be with you again, Kris. So what are you doing? Why were you in detention? Why are-"
Kris stopped her, putting a finger on her lips, "Wait, allow me to answer at least." When Bridget stayed silent, he continued, mostly summarizing the events of the day at school, leaving out the drugging of Adams and the scene on the roof.
Bridget listened until he finished and quickly retorted, "So you just believed her? Just like that? Look, Kris, you're a nice guy, but you're far too gullible for your own good, so-"
Kris sighed, "I'd explain why I believe her, but that's Taylor's story to tell. I promised I wouldn't mention it unless she told me to, and you know how I keep promises...
Bridget recalled an incident where Kris was beaten badly while keeping a secret for a friend, who had been struggling with bullies taking money from him... The friend had asked Kris to hide the money, and someone snitched, and the bullies went for Kris. He didn't break, though, despite the half-dozen or so hits he took, and they left him bleeding, where a teacher found him not long after.
Bridget nodded reluctantly, "Fine, I'll stay, but if this is some sort of intricate and sick joke," she warned, "I won't ever speak to you or any of the others ever again, got it?" she warned, earning a solemn nod from Kris. Satisfied, she opened the door and walked in, Kris following her.
The group was chatting casually, with Owen leaning against one of the lab's counters, Angie sitting on the one opposite him, Destiny all but laying a bit further down from where Owen stood. Taylor stood straight up, in the aisle between the two, head held high. As Kris noticed her, the word he couldn't place on the roof snapped into his mind; Taylor had a regal presense, which had the effect on the air around her that made one pay a bit more attention to her... Taylor was watching Bridget expectantly, "I take it you will hear me out?" she stated, more fact than question.
"No tricks and yes." Bridget answered sternly, walking over next to Destiny. Kris hopped onto the bench next to Angie, feet dangling over the side.
Taylor nodded, "No tricks." she turned to address the now silent group, "I am now going to explain as much as I can about the dreams and why you're all involved, as well as what I need to ask of you all." she paused, watching everyone's reactions; Destiny sat up, Owen straightened slightly, Angie... actually didn't change much, as she'd already been focused on Taylor, Bridget and Kris waited silently. Taylor continued smoothly, "It was a distress call, an S.O.S, if you will, from myself. The lake you saw was the entrance, the signal that you were answering." she paused again, looking down before quietly saying, "But my call was too late, and many lives have been lost..." Taylor's soft hazel eyes looked back up, "I will elaborate in due time, but first, I ask you all to take one of these." Taylor opened her hand, revealing a set of rings, one for each of them. They were all minutely detailed, but were out of range for Kris to discern the patterns on them. Taylor handed each of them out, and as each person got their ring, they quickly began examining it, and when Kris got his last, he also studied the markings. [IMG]
Kris couldn't help but notice the crowns, and commented, "Crowns? I am no king, nor prince, neither am I rich or born to any royalty that I know of. So why crowns?"
Taylor smiled, "Honestly, I swear I just told you... You're a natural leader, Kris. You are able to lead even better than any royal-born king or prince. Even if not in combat or war, leading is an invaluable trait. The rings choose the person, and they create partterns for the one they choose."
Oweb spoke up, slightly red, "Well, maybe they mistook me for someone else? Because the pattern on mine is a bit wierd..." he held up his ring and Destiny laughed. Kris walked over and chuckled as well when he saw the pattern: [IMG]
Taylor joined in, chuckling a bit before answering, "I'm not certain why it's that way, Owen, but I know this; the rings don't lie, nor make mistakes. I also notice that those hearts are pure diamond... That may mean something. But now we need to move on, and I ask one thing: Please keep these rings on or near you when you sleep tonight, it works like a pass..." as she was about to say more, a slight squeak was heard outside of the room, and the group froze.
Kris put a finger to his lips and stealthily creeped to the door, hearing a few whispers from it. He opened the door and was greeted by a group of students in lab coats.
"I'm sorry, but we reserved the labs for our extra-credit classes today." the frontmost student said. She had dirty blonde hair and grey eyes and seemed cheerful enough. Kris allowed them in and his friends began to leave.
When the lab door was closed and the group of six were again in the hall, Taylor quickly said, "Remember, rings on tonight, you'll figure everything out by timorrow morning, alright?" When they nodded their acknowledgement, she just turned and left with a quick, "See you later."
Bridget stared as Taylor left, then gazed at her ring, admiring it and soon putting it on. It fit her finger perfectly, and as the others tried their own, they found that the same was true.
The group said their rather confused goodbyes and left, each heading their seperate ways towards their respective homes...
