    Chapter 6

Soon after I have a small chat with Sylvia and Morrigan, I get dressed in my new war clothes. The dress and boots fit perfectly. I have to admit, Blood is really good at measurements. I dye my hair and I actually look pretty good.

"They're here!" I hear a crazed and nervous voice say. Mar. I run out the the small bathroom and see a small mob of people or something. They seem mangled and dead. Almost not real.

They murmur or moan or something. But I can understand it. "We want the Time Traveler," they say. My eyes widen. How can I understand them?

"Why do they want me?" I ask.

"You can hear them," Bell says, obviously shocked.

"Better yet, I can understand them," I reply. But why?

A tiny voice in my head says, "Because you were here before and you are remembering." But how is that possible?

"Battle stations," Bell commands. But I feel something click in my brain.

"No. Bell, Blood, Chess, and Pete, I want you to stand around me. Wait for my command. Do not shoot or attack. If what I have planned doesn't work, then you can." I blink. What am I remembering?

"But Alice," Bell starts to argue.

"Queen Isabelle Elorna Romara Newman, I make the commands. You do as told." What did I just say? Was that...her full name?

"How do you..." Morrigan starts and drifts off. Chess gives me another sly, half-moon smile.

"She remembers," he says, his eyes twinkling.

"Now, let's move." I walk outside and the four follow me. The four form a small box around me. Blood and Bell in the front, Chess and Pete in the back. Chess has his hand on the small of my back but I dismiss it as a gesture of belief in me. Chess has his spear in his other hand and Bell has her finger on the trigger. Blood is swinging his mace over our heads and is holding the whip in his other, cracking it loudly. Pete is throws one knife in the air, catching the blade every time. This seems so normal for them, and yet, I feel no fear.

Everything that is out there starts to me. They continue to moan the same mantra: "We want the Time Traveler." I close my eyes and think. What were these things once before? Human. That's what they were. They weren't always monsters. Somehow, they became this. But each of them is still a person, no matter what. They all have souls. They all have bodies. They are still human.

"Alice," I hear Chess say. I open my eyes and I see people. They are murmuring to themselves. Then they start pointing at me and murmuring such things like, "Alice... Time Traveler... Savior... Warrior... Hero..."

"She did it," Bell says. She turns to look at me and she gives me a small grin. "And she is back."

"What are you talking about?" I ask. My voice sounds richer, different. It startles me but what happens next might scare me even more.

"Your eyes," Blood grins, also turned towards me. "Your green irises are gone. Golden disks take their place."

"What?" I ask. I wipe my hand across the air, forming a mirror. Whoa. Now, I see myself, but with more confidence and strength. And the beautiful, light, pale green eyes I had before have been replaced. Golden, bright, shining disks take the green irises place.

    Chapter 7
    In General POV

"You what?!" she yells, pointing the hatchet at him. Her face was red with hatred and anger. This couldn't have happened to her units.

"We lost the unit, Your Majesty. She rewinded their lives. She's remembering quickly," the short man stuttered. He was afraid. He knew this behavior. She wasn't just angry. She wasn't just furious. She was beyond that. If that was possible. Which it is.

"I want you to send a spy. A human, not Infected. If they can get her, grab her and bring her here!" She slams the hatchet down on his neck, his head rolling off. His body walks over to where his head lay and picks it up, placing it back on his neck. His Infection was helpful, at first. But the Red Queen had so many rampages, this was often. And it was annoying.

"As you wish, Your Majesty," he says, the odd sound of his skin and veins and arteries also breaking the silence in the room. He limps out of the room and heads to the scout's quarters.

He didn't want to take much more of this. He would much rather be dead or set back by the Warrior's hand. It would be much better than taking this torture, he thinks. He opens the door to the scouts room and see's him sitting at a desk, reading.

"Grey Green," the raspy voice calls out. The scout doesn't even lift his head.

"Yes, Larson?" the scout, Grey Green, replies. He lightly sets down the book, not marking his place.

"Go get the girl," the man, Larson, says. "Lillian's orders."

"Does she know that you call her that outside of her room?" He looks over at Larson, is green-grey eyes looking into Larson's dead ones.

"Just go get the girl," he says, ignoring the question. "And don't bother talking to her. Lillian will talk with her when she gets here. Hurry, Grey."

The scout stands and nods, grabbing a bow and a quiver of arrows. He pushes past Larson and starts walking down the corridor. At the end, he turns, his blond hair covering his eyes.

"Do not call me Grey Green. My name is Liddell. Michael Liddell." With that, he continues his way. Get ready for a shocker, sister, he thinks as he heads outside.

    Chapter 8
    Alice's POV

"How did I do that?" I ask. Suddenly, the mirror disappears. But before it does, I see my eyes are back to their pale green. I'm glad that I have my pale green irises; the golden disks that replaced them freaked me out.

"You are remembering, dear," I hear. I turn to see a girl. It isn't anyone I know, I don't think. But she has brown hair with dark blond highlights. Her green-blue eyes shift between the two colors slowly. She looks like she is my age, but her eyes tell a different story. They seem to had hidden memories behind them. She seems familiar now that I think about it.

    "Who are you?" I ask.

"Casey. Casey the Defender. It's nice to see you again." She bows and when she comes back up, her eyes are almost black.

    "How do you..?" I start.

"They shift. Naturally. Only when I meet a true warrior, they do this," she smiles, motioning to her eyes with her hands. "And you, my dear, are a true warrior. In fact, you are the Warrior."

"Thank you?" I say, not sure about what she is saying.

"Alice," I hear. I turn back to Chess, his eyes narrowed, his mouth in a straight line.

    "Yes, Chess?" I ask.

"Do not trust this one," he hisses. He actually hisses, like a cat. But now, I've realized that he is a cat. Sort of.

"Why not?" I ask. "She seems alright." Casey smiles at this. She seems to like me.

"This," Morrigan says, a bird perched on her shoulder and her hand pointing at Casey, "is not Casey. This is an imposter. He is a spy. For the Red Queen."

Casey's voice turns to a male voice. One that seems like I would know it almost anywhere. "Fine, Morrigan, Chess, you've caught me. Hard for me to see the one person I haven't since she left me for the Big Head." Casey shifts into a boy that looks like he is my age. He even looks like me. He has the blond hair, the pale skin. But his eyes are a little different. He has pale green eyes, with a mixture of grey in them.

    "I think I know you," I whisper.

"How could you not, sister?" he asks. "It's Mikey. Remember?" He sets a bow down at his feet, smiling. That smile... It seems so familiar.

"Mikey..." I blink. "Michael? I thought you disappeared."

"I did. When we came here last time, you left me here, with the Big Head. I forgive you, of course. That's why I became a spy. So I could see my twin again. And actually fight Big Head with you."

Chess hisses again. Birds call out. People that I thought disappeared murmur among themselves.

"But you said that you are a spy for Lillian. How can I trust you?" I ask. He takes me hand and suddenly thoughts shoot through my head. None my own.

Fear...he doesn't want me to leave him again. He wants me to stay. If I leave, he could become an Infected.

Happiness...he finally found me, ready to join our powers again.

Hunger...he wants to feel that power again, like nothing else he ever wanted.

Need...he needs to be with me. If I don't stay, he might have to kill me...

I yank my hand back, staring at his silver eyes. They slowly fade to his green-grey eyes again. What the hell just happened?
