I think weekday wars can work if the duration of the war is shorter Betas are fun but are only 2 hours so it's mostly a plunder race with little strategy I think 6 hours are ideal 4 would be a bit better to I would like to know if devs can have a similar Setup to club wars as beta, what I mean is clubs declare they are warring and then the system tries and finds a close Match some other games have a similar setup
? I've never been in a 12 hour war. So I think before going shorter than that try it. Beta wars are definitely too short. I still feel 6 hours is too short, but since it's a tournament that's probably best as it's more like battles against each other. Maybe make the battles between clubs 6 hours then make the final war between the two top clubs 12 hours so you can really see the effects of their strategy and cooperation over a longer period of time.
The war tournament was a great idea, don't get me wrong but if for the next one, I know its a lot to ask, but if ATA could potentially set up the war tournament with times like red said around 6 hours, I feel a lot more people could participate.
I like Raven's idea of capping at a more manageable number and balancing in tiers. I also think, to extend on the merc idea, that the 5 mercs should only be replacements for someone who can't war or if the club has less people than another. And the merc should be in the same stat tier as the person they're replacing or being matched up to.
Another suggestion Harsh mentioned was to have two different brackets depending on club strength. That way smaller clubs can join as well and not be over powered.
And I totally agree that people who don't like the way a war is set shouldn't join. One question about the tournament tho, are all the clubs supposed to be matched or does it not matter? Because the balancing and the mercs is a complicated and touchy subject as is with just two clubs. How are you guys managing so many clubs?
I like allowing mercs purely for the fact many smaller clubs don't have new bc players so this gives them a chance to find help and participate. Id also like to see more teaching wars, sometimes the best way to learn is to just get in there and do it. If we want new players to war lets encourage those with small stats to come and learn and find out just how fun a good war can be.
We were not matched Anna. But we were allowed to recruit. The rules said once you helped a club, you couldn't help another participating in the same tournament. Like I said in my first statement, original rosters should be posted so mercs can see which clubs may need more help than others. Alpha had a similar problem that we did. That was my fault. We had no shows and were ill prepared in hitters. However, if we could have mercs choose clubs depending on who needs the help, it might help with having a club to overpowering.
I think the problems with mercs is that people tend to abuse them. Suddenly it becomes less about whether you need a merc and more about simply getting as many as possible in order to overpower the other side and win easily. Unfortunately there's not fun in that. So I'm glad mercs were only allowed to help one club. But maybe instead of allowing mercs to pick a club or letting clubs pick the merc have someone assign available mercs to the clubs where they're need the most to make things fair not to gain an advantage over their opponent.
A lot of mercs had warred in the June 2nd war so when it came down to the next war with another club, they were already tied down with the first club. I do think mercs should've been better organized for this specific tournament.
I agree Raven. Tiered matching is probably the best way and certainly allowing smaller players to join and see what it's all about. We all started that way, so perhaps some incentives to have new players war would be good too.
I can see your point and I do like the rule that a merc can only help one term for the full duration of the tournament. Maybe we could make it that its one merc per stat group ie 2.2mc - Bc can only have one merc etc. Some smaller clubs may want to war the bigger vip clubs just to show that smaller clubs are just as good at war as those that are bigger, plus if they win it might encourage players with no hc to join and help them grow.
I definitely feel that ATA should not be blocking outside hits, all because a club was trying to flea from a farm war. If outside hits are blocked, then organizers shouldn't allow those clubs to participate because it is taking away from old school Pimd, and taking away the whole purpose of the battle button. If you disable outside hits for every war, every ***** dumbass will just run a 48hr pwar just so they can't ever be farmed. Since the beginning when someone was in a sfw, they didn't run and complain about outside hits in a war. That's what you expect and "sign" up for, when you get yourself in a sfw. If you plan on doing that, you might as well just remove the battle button all together. ATA makes a ton off of these sfw's though, so you should actually encourage the battle button, and sfw's instead of letting people be a ***** and turning off outside hits.
BGP loves war and we're definitely not as big as others who were in this tournament but most of us love participating in these tournaments. I love love love your ideas Raven because it would allow clubs who are smaller like BGP (or even smaller then us) to war in these fancy tournaments and have fun.
I was in the process of submitting my comments on the other thread when it got locked so I don't feel like posting a long one anymore.lol.Anyway, I think the concept of this tournament is good and thank you for all the organisers who made an effort to contact ATA (represented by Jodie)about the rewards. It showed that they are willing to work with us. Unfortunately, it didn't turn out the way we were expecting it but it may be due to several factors sfw, scav hunts etc. Each club who participated where represented by their two chosen leaders. Any concerns and issues should have been raised prior to the tournament. Anyway, this is just the first tournament so we can only discuss, suggest and make improvements for future ones (if there is any). I'm still looking forward for the finals.
I agree Kathryn. The lack of hitters on my side was my fault, I did recruit but things do happen and we had a lot of now shows which is why I like Bulldogs idea as well about having a merc pool ready to come in to help a club who had no shows to fill in. I will admit that the failure in our war was my fault for not being prepared with step ins. I should've assumed that we would have no shows.
I would like to say well done to BGP who weren't daunted with the opponents side. They still went ahead with the war. That's what sportsmanship is all about.
Oh don't worry about it hon.You tried your best. We can only learn from this experience. It was fun though. We kept Tweak dtw for you guys.
