I ran. Faster than any living thing could ever run, but he's still right behind me. "Dad, stop! Someone help!" I screamed. He just chuckled, getting closer as I cried out for help. "Mom! Someone! Please!" I yelled. In the distance, I saw a glowing light. "Mom?" I said to the light. There was no sign of my dad anywhere. Where could he have possibly gone in the middle of nowhere, with miles of flat ground surrounding us. "Mom!" I cried. I ran up to the light, realizing it was her. I stopped right in front of her, her beautiful blonde hair flowing with the wind. "It's okay, sweetheart," she spoke softly. "No, it's not-" I started. "Shhhh," she whispered. "Just worship these few moments we have together." "What do you mean?" I almost shouted. "Come home with me!" "I can't," she staggered. "I-I can never go back." That was the last thing I heard her say before she disappeared into thin air.
I was awakened by the sound of a girl a couple of years younger entering the room. "Mom?" I asked. "No, silly, I'm not your mother!" she said in a playful tone. I haven't smiled in a while, but being here with her just felt....right. "Sorry, I guess it was a dream," I smirked. "Yeah," she laughed. "Anyways, I bet you're wondering what I'm doing in your hospital room." "Just a little," I smiled. "Well, when I heard that your dad went all insane over your family, I just had to come...." she trailed off. "Why?" I asked impatiently. "Well....my dad had a little too much to drink one night, and came home angry as ever. And, um, he held me, my mother, and my older brother captive in our basement. I couldn't help but relate to what happened to you," she almost cried, but controlled herself. "So...where is your family?" I asked quietly. She started crying. "My dad...he killed my mother...right in front of my eyes! That's when the police showed up. Before they could arrest him, he shot me in the stomach. I blacked out after that. I don't know where he is, or my brother." She pulled up her shirt just over her belly button and showed me a gruesome scar that stretched across her stomach. I almost vomited at the sight. "That's pretty bad," I said shakily. I stared into her eyes. They were a beautiful, blueish-green color, and I could faintly see a brown speck in her eyes. Wait...there's only one person I know with eyes like that. "Molly?" I whispered.
