Avion awoke to find himself lying down on a bed in a small room. He tried to sit up but a jolt of pain shot through his head like lightning. He lay back down slowly and tried to remember what happened. He knew that he had gotten into an argument with a drunk, and that he had taken a blow to the head, the latter of which was obviously causing the throbbing in his temple. But he couldn't recall what had happened after that. It was all in a haze. He swore at his dilemma and tried to go back to sleep. It was then that he heard a soft knock at the door. "Come in," he said. The door opened slightly and a young woman poked her head in. "How's the hero feeling?" she asked with a smile.
'By the gods,' Avion thought. She was the most beautiful thing he had ever laid eyes on. Her flowing brown hair was brought out by her dark red velvet cloak and hood. Her sea-green eyes penetrated into his very being, yet were gentle and soft. Her smile was a dazzling white, and her body was that of a goddess. He lay there awestruck for a few moments before finally gathering his senses to reply. " I'm doing well enough. I'm assuming you must be my guardian angel?" he said slyly. "Oh hush, all I did was pull him away from you... And almost kill him in the process. But that's a minor detail," she said with a wink and a smile. Avion chuckled. She was a fighter and had a sense of humor. He knew he was going to like this girl.

She sat down on the end of the bed. She had a twinkle in he eyes that made Avion's heartbeat go faster and faster. "Well, may I have your name? It would make thanking you properly much easier," Avion said to the woman. "Oh my goodness!" she said in fake shock. "A hero that's not afraid to admit that a woman helped him? That man must have damaged your brain when he hit you." "Or maybe I was just raised with manners and dignity," Avion replied with a coy smile. "I'll have to trust you on that one. My name's Kylee," she told him. As Avion started to reply, she held up her hand. "I know your name, Avion," Kylee said to him. "So you're a sorcerer too?" he said sarcastically. "Well, you could say that. But on the other hand, what would this world be coming to if a subject didn't know the name of her own prince?"
Ok I'm taking a break from writing the story until I know a few people are reading it. I mean, what's the point of writing if it's not going to be read? Of course, Emily Dickinson might disagree...
