Amazingly detailed! Though there were just a few grammatical errors. The blood and movement was written great!
Detective Monroe took a sip of her black luke warm coffee. Her faded green eyes drifted to the window beside her. Rain drizzled down outside with on going rage. The weather fit her mood perfectly. She released a light sigh and set her coffee down on the dark wooden table. The small diner off 441 was dead tonight. Only a few passerby's came in to dry off from the onslaught of rain. She arched an eyebrow as the small gold bell rang. God knows why they hung that thing in front of their entrance door. The small chime caused her attention to drift over. A tall man with a light brown trench coat came in. His dark eyes moved to glance at the table in the corner. He made his way over to it without a word. Curious stares in his direction, he ignored them. Detective Monroe narrowed her gaze on him. She watched his every movement. From the time he slouched down at the small booth in the corner. To the way he moved his rough fingers over his 5'0 clock shadow. She snorted lightly and turned her head away. Go figure all the creeps would be out at night. Even if it was only 8:25pm, it didn't matter to them. The bell chimed again at the new comer entering. She didn't bother looking, it was perhaps just another creep. She lifted her porcelain coffee cup to her pale pink lips. She was prepared to take another sip. Until the new comer came over to her table. His greeting in his silky smooth voice nearly made her choke on her coffee. Which caused him to chuckle at her. He knew how to get under her skin still. She growled softly and set down her coffee cup, " Detective Bonridge. ", She said briskly and quickly recovered her disheveled uproar of emotions. She hadn't seen him in four years. " Elizabeth. It's nice to see you doing well. ", He replied warmly while taking a seat across from her. " What brings you to CherryWood? ", She asked in her professional no room for bull tone. Her eyes studied his face, noticing the tired bags under his deep blue eyes. He could go days without sleep when on a high tail case. His handsome features only got better with age. His lips set in a slight smirk, skin clear of any stubble. Her gaze drifted lower, he still had on his coat, white collared long sleeved shirt and blue tie. Still so professional yet dangerous underneath. She raised her chin defiantly and glared down at her coffee. There was no way she would be able to handle another mouthful. At least not warm anyway. A shiver ran down her spine. " Still the attractive detective in the area I see. ", He commented with an underlying tease. His blue eyes twinkled mischievously. Her green eyes tore away from the window to glare at him. Her dark brown hair pulled back away from her face to sit in a high ponytail. Her high cheek bones at a loss for color. " What is it Jack? You don't come around without reason. ", She snapped at him dryly. Even with just 5'6 of her height, she could still take on his 6'1 frame. She's been trained to take down anyone getting in her way. Jack dropped his playful demeanor and set his lips in a thin line, " I've been called over to assist in the disappearance cases. Over 32 girls have gone missing in the past five months. So far only 18 of those bodies have been found. I'm here to help. ", He replied sternly and waved the cute brunette waitress over. Elizabeth stared at him with little surprise. The death toll just kept rising. She shifted uncomfortably and moved closer to the rain splattered window. The brunette waitress bounced over with a smile, " Good evening sugar. Can I get you something to start off with? ", She asked sweetly and winked at Jack. Jack grinned at her, " Yea, can my friend here get a fresh cup of coffee. Also two pumpkin pie slices and a cup of coffee for me as well. ", He answered her question. Her name tag read Jenny. She pulled out her note pad and wrote a few things down, " Coming right up sir. ", She giggled and walked away smiling. " You're 36 years old and still flirting with young women. You haven't changed much. ", Elizabeth commented while watching the rain fall. Jack turned his attention to her, " What's wrong with enjoying life? I'm not getting any younger. ", He said with amusement laced in his voice. She rolled her eyes at his playful personality. Then leaned back in her seat as Jenny came walking over shortly after. The scene was slightly comical as it played out. Jenny placed the two plates down in front of them. Nearly dropping the two cups of coffee balanced on a black tray in her hands. She then proceeded to hand Jack a slip of paper. Jack watched her walk away, before opening the folded paper up. A number was written nearly on it. He felt flattered, but non the less. Set the paper on the table and looked at his soon to be partner. " So, mind catching me up on what's been going on? Eric said you are all having a hard time catching this guy. He seems to keep giving you guys the slip. ", He began the conversation, taking a bite out of his pumpkin pie. Elizabeth placed two spoonfuls of sugar in her coffee. Four stirs and then she took a sip. The quietness dropped between them. She still had yet to reply to his bait of conversation. Jack raised his head to look at her, " Liz, what is it? ", He questioned with confusion. She was never this quiet and deep in thought. Her shoulders tensed and then her eyes closed briefly. It took her a few moments to gather her strength. Her lips trembled slightly, and then she got a hold of herself. Her eyes opened and then she found herself glaring a hole through the window, " Amy disappeared a week ago. We haven't located her, her friends haven't seen her. We looked everywhere. " " Elizabeth...I had no idea. Where could she have taken off to? ", He replied gingerly and placed his fork down. " I don't know. She was supposed to spend the night at her friend's house. It was only a few houses down, a short walk. When I called over there twenty minutes after she left. They said she had yet to make it there. I went outside to see where she had gone to. The roads were empty, she wasn't there. I called her other friends, they hadn't seen her either. It was like she disappeared in to thin air. " Jack studied her face, he could tell she was trying to calm the hysteria building inside of her, " Elizabeth, we'll find her. " She could barely handle picking up her cup. She had to force the professional side of her to take over. The tears threatening to fall were pushed back. Her daughter could have fallen victim to the night stalker. She blamed herself for her daughter's disappearance. Had she walked her over in the first place. She would have been sitting right next to her. She missed her daughter's cute smile, her gentle laugh. The way she would hug her mother when something was wrong. She was too sweet of a girl to be harmed. Her academics were one of the highest in her classes. Why would someone want to harm her? Her fists clenched and unclenched. She couldn't allow herself to fall to pieces. Missing girls and her daughter were depending on her. Jack moved to lightly touch her hand. Her frowned when she flinched away and got up from her seat, " Liz? " " We'll speak in the morning detective. Good night. ", She said calmly and grabbed her bag. Swiftly she was out the diner within moments. He ran a hand through his short spiky black hair. He keenly heard her the engine of her black Volvo start up. Then the tires mashing against the gravel while she took off. Amy Monroe missing. That meant the toll had gone up to 33 missing girls. Worse thing was, was that he knew Amy. He watched her grow up. He had been her mother's partner for 9 years. They went to college together before she married a lawyer. Amy was born two years after her mother got married. Elizabeth got a divorce three years prior to their meeting. He sighed and finished his pie and coffee quickly. Elizabeth's pie and coffee were left un touched. He threw down the bills to pay for it and got up. He only stopped to look around the diner before exiting to get in his car.
