All I could hear was a beeping sound at regular intervals, it was annoying. Then I heard soft voices, 'Harriet, wake up..', 'Please Harriet', 'Cmon, get up'. The voice was unfamiliar, I willed my eyes to open to see what the hell was happening to me. Slowly, my eyes fluttered open to see a white room that smelt of cleaning fluid and soap. My vision was slightly blurry, but I could make out a tall figure walk over to the door. 'Nurse, she's awake.' Nurse?!? I was in hospital?! Then it all came flooding back to me, the man, fire, running, Jared... I felt a tear run down my face and sniffed to keep myself from sobbing my heart out. The figure walked over to my side and my vision cleared. Knelt at my bedside was a boy, he had swishy blonde hair and deep blue eyes, from what I could tell he was muscly, and I had already established he was tall. The nurse walked in, interrupting my train of thought. 'Oh hello there!' she smiled, 'How are you feeling today?'. 'Not great obviously, otherwise I wouldn't be sat here' I retorted, the boy chuckled. 'And who's that?' I asked, glancing at the boy. 'I'm Luke' He smiled, 'I found you an brought you here'. 'Uhm, thanks I guess' I said. The nurse walked out and left us alone. I glanced down at my body, there was a cast on my right foot and my blue dress had been replaced by baggy pink pyjamas, although my arms still had blood on them, probably from my head. 'What happened...' asked Luke, his eyes full of worry. 'I-it doesn't matter' I sighed. His facial expression told me he wasn't convinced, but he knew not to question further. He then picked up my phone. 'What are you doing?' I asked. He put it down on my bed and grinned. 'My number, call me.'
*One Week Later* I was finally out of the hospital, but my feet were so badly burnt I needed to use crutches and my cast was still on. I got out of bed and hobbled over to my wardrobe. There really aren't many clothes you can fit over a cast, so I decided to wear a purple skirt and a white vest top. I couldn't exactly drive like this, luckily school was only around the corner so I walked there as best as I could. As soon as I entered the building I could feel everybody's eyes on me; guess news travels fast. I was on my way to my next class when some tall blonde guy bumped into me and I dropped my books all over the floor. He immediately crouched down to pick them up for me, and when he stood up to hand them over I was greeted by a familiar face. 'Oh, um, hi Luke' I tried to smile. 'Hey Harriet' he smiled, 'You didn't call?..' My cheeks flushed red. I had thought about it, but in all honesty I was too shy. 'I didn't want to bother you..' I replied, it was partly true. He looked at me sympathetically. 'Don't you worry about that, if you ever need ANYTHING, give me a call' he smiled and we walked to class. We both stopped at the same door. Luke looked at me, unable to hide his cheeky grin. 'Oh, guess were together then.'
