The Last Samuri

As Shinjiko and I embraced I wondered how he had grown so much, but there was no time for questions, I was there for a reason. "How is Mr. Tamoro doing?" "He died About a month after you left. " "What!?!?!!?!?!!!!?!" "He passed away in his sleep, anyway, why are you here?" "I know you know what I do for a living now, and I want you to join me." I said still angry at myself for not being there for the man who raised me as his own son. "I am flattered, but I can not, I am, going to be married next week brother." "Oh really? That is great news! To who?" It was at that moment when a familiar face opened the door in the middle of asking where one of the servants were was Julena, wearing a Kamino with the Tamoro crest on it.

"You!" Julena gasped loudly and shrunk away. As she started to scream for help I felt a slight breeze as my gaurd appeared behind her and covered her mouth. "So, you are marrying her brother?" "Yes, aren't you happy for me?" "Of course, but now I can't kill her with a clear conscience." "Yes, I know what they did to your clan, that is why they asked me to marry her, so you wouldn't kill them all. What could I do but say yes? You know how I feel about her, and I don't mind that you two kissed, but please don't kill her." I glared at her and walked up to her and reached my hand towards her chest, I then grabbed the neckless hanging around her neck and ripped it off. "I am keeping this. Let her go, give him the present and meet me outside." I said as I walked away, I heard my gaurd throw the bag of our last month's loot on the table as I fingered my only memento of my mother.

 

As I sat down with Katashe and poured her some sake I asked her about the man that was attacking her. "I refused to marry someone and tried to run away, my brother got angry and attacked me, you know the rest." "Yeah, sorry about threatening your brother." I said to her while trying to eat my ramen less messily, for once in my life I cared about what someone thought about me.

"There you are sister! I have been looking everywhere for you!" said a voice that sounded like it was trying to look friendly but was very....... Murderous. I turned and saw Katashe's brother behind a wall of about twenty gaurds all pointing katanas at us. I stood as Katashe hid behind me. "Leave it Kurisaki! This is none of your concern! Infact, we will pay you to hand her over, your crew wil be rich! But not as rich as you." the brother said. I smiled walked over and took the money as my gaurds grabbed Katashe who was staring at me horror. I walked back over and gave her the sack of money. "Here, hold this for me please miss." I said as I walked towards the enemy, I walker past them sliding one katana out a quarter of the way, then when I finished my walk and sheathed my katana completly the gaurds suddenly collapsed spouting blood." You're next." I said staring at the coward who was shaking from head to foot as I unsheathed my katana and prepared to take off his head.

 

"No!!!! Don't kill him!" Katashe yelled grabing my arm.

"Why should I not?"

"He is my brother! I won't let you!"

"What's going to stop me from punishing him for hitting you?"

"This money," she said showing me the sack of money,

"I won't give it back to you if you kill him, I want to hire your crew in return for the money."

I signaled for my gaurds not to move, I could tell they were both about to take the money from her. I sheathed my katana, turned away and put the sack on my belt.

"Deal."

 

"Captian, there is an aproaching merchant ship, what do we do?"

"I will ask the miss." I replied to the pirate as I turned and walked to the former captian's quarters.

"Katashe, we are about to attack a merchant ship, hide."

"Ok, thanks for the warning Aizen" Katashe said coming in from one of the other rooms wearing a long-sleeved sky blue kamino. She put her hand on my shoulder

"Thank you for hiding the fact that the money ran out five months ago secret."

"You are welcome, they would throw you overboard if I told them the truth."
I told her while putting her hands in mine.
"I would not be able to stand anything happening to you,"

I said staring into her eyes.

"Don't you have a ship to attack? I will see you when you get back."

She said smiling at me.

"Goodbye kiss?"

"Ok, just this once!"

She replied half laughing as we kissed.

"Goodbye my love!"

"Goodbye my beloved!"

We said as I walked out of her room to prepare our attack.

 

It had been six months since we had been "hired" by Katashe, in that time we were engaged to each other and my brother had gotten married, and Simone stole all of the Uchorok's money. Around that same time we were able to fund our own discovery mission and we found an island that we claimed for ourselves. We were rich beyond count, but this was what we did best, so we continued to do it.

 

"Surrendure your cargo and you will be spared!"

I yelled at the merchant ship's captian hoping to avoid bloodshed.

"I, I accept"

The ship's captian said putting away his weapon as his sailors brought out his treasure.

"But in return you will speak with him."

he said pointing at a man stepping foward dressed as.......

"Welcome Shogun!"

I said bowing and motioning for the others to do the same. As we went into my meeting room to talk to the shogun I wondered why he was here, but I would get my answers soon.

 

"To what do I owe this honor?"

I asked him aware of Katashe walking inside the meeting room.

"The emperess wants your loyalty, in return we will look the other way on your attacks."

"Deal."

"Good, then I will be on my way, but come to port Indigo in two years with your entire fighting force."

"I will be there."

"Good, and by the way who is this lady?"

He asked me while looking at Katashe.

"She is our client, she paid for our services so she is allowed everywhere."

"Oh really? If you say so."

He said with a smile on his face as he left.

 

"Touch her and die!"

I yelled at the ship full of angry pirates staring up at me from the deck.

"Don't listen to him! She has been freeloading for a year! They lied to us about the money! There was barely any to begin with!"

My former first mate yelled as my former crew aproached Katashe, I was barely able to stand after meeting a pirate captian who's strength in battle rivaled mine, and they knew it. But they also knew I could still take half of em down with me, if I hadn't trained them then I would have been able to kill all of them.

"Captian Kurisaki! I relieve you of your post! Along with your bride!"

He yelled swinging his sword toward Katashe's neck.

"Stay away from my wife!"

I yelled as I coughed blood while badly wounded from blocking the blade, with my body.

"I, won't, let you, harm, her,"

I said trying to keep myself conscious for her sake.

"A life for a life, I offer my life in exchange for hers!"

I said to him still struggling to stand.

"And why would I want to make that deal when we could take both?"

"Because you may have my weapons but you don't have my personal safe's location."

 

"Fine, it's a deal then."

I took him to Katashe and I's room and showed him a loose wall piece, I pulled it gently and the piece two boards over opened to reveal a safe of very valuable items, there was a crown, a diamond gold, etc. I looked at my favorite items in the safe

"Please allow Katashe to keep those."

I said to the first mate.

"Why? Is it vauluable?"

"No, those are our wedding gifts to each other."

"Haha! She won't need them, kill her."

He said as he got a bag and began stuffing it with items from the vault as he threw our gifts on the floor. My mind burned with rage as I stared at the broken picture of us together and a broken comb that I gave her. I looked at him and stood.

"You all touched her, now die."

I forgot all about the pain as I got behind the person gaurding me and snapped his neck, I then took his weapon and quickly took the other gaurd's head. I then picked up the second gaurd's weapon and threw one at the third gaurd and took a moment to take in his shocked face to see it hilt deep in hos stomech, I then continued and threw the second one. the fourth and final gaurd lost his head.

"Prepare to die traitor."

I said raising my fists at the traitorus officer.

"Bring it "captian" "

 

Right, left, left, left, block, right. I fought to my limit and beyond, I would not let them harm her, I had someone to protect. How he figured out the secret Katashe and I had done our best to hide was beyond me, but I relized I couldn't win this fight, not like this. I stunned him for a few seconds with a hard hit to his stomech, time to move. I picked up the picture and comb and ran outside towards Katashe dodging pirates left and right, I only had one shot at this, I picked her up as I ran and jumped overboard, as we fell I turned in midair and flicked my wrist impaling the nearest traitor with a knife attached to a rope. In the water we used him as cover from arrows as Katashe and I swam, luckily we were close to shore. I looked in the water and saw my blood as I continued to keep myself conscious and swim with Katashe who kept looking at me with concern. We soon reached the shore, I passed out immideatly.

 

I woke to see Katashe leaning over me with my head in her lap.

"Did we make it?"

I asked her as calm as I could manage to be.

"We made it, but we are stuck on this island, what do we do?"

"We have one about and a half years to spare, we can stay here until then, we stayed around this island because I knew they would do that one day and this island is perfect to stay here, help me up."

"No, you shouldn't get up. You have moved too much already, tell me what to do and I will."

"I will not allow it."

I said to her standing shakily and holding the arm I used to fling the knife, I had only had one shot because I knew it would make that arm useless for atleast two weeks, but I still had one good one, that was enough. I walked over to a tree and kicked it hard I walked away as fruit began to fall all around me.

"This'll be easy."

I sat Sharpening my knives as I watched my three month old sleep with Katashe who was holding him close. I was currently waiting for my soup to finish cooking.

"Is the food ready yet?"

I looked over and saw Katashe looking up at me while still rubbing her eyes.

"It is almost done, just a few more minutes, I want this last dinner here to be the best."

"Well, I hope you conclude your buisness with the shogun quickly."

"As do I, as do I."

I replied to her staring at the boat I built at the shore waiting for me to leave.
