  6. I went for a walk outside. The lawn had a bunch of flower beds, and a few weeping willows swept gracefully in the slight breeze. Without really knowing where I was heading, I walked until I found a small pond.

"This is beautiful," I said, gazing at all the scenery. I looked at the other side of the pond, and saw a small door embedded into the side of a cliff. I walked around the pond to it, and reached out to touch it with my fingertips.

"I wouldn't do that," Death's voice said behind me.

I spun around, almost tripping, but Death caught me. "Why?" I asked.

He let go of my arm. "That's where the spirits go to move on."

"What do you mean?" I asked. "You mean, that's a door to hell?"

"No," Death sighed. "I told you, I'm a collector of sorts. How good are you at Greek mythology?"

"I know a bit," I said. "Zeus was god of the sky and ruler, Hera was his wife, um, Ares was god of war-"

"Do you know who Charon is?"

    "Nope," I said.

"Charon was the being that would ferry people across the river Styx, into the Underworld. I'm a little like him, just slightly different. I'm calked Death because I'm always near it. I collect souls and bring them to there judgement. Then they go on to heaven or hell."

I stepped away from him. "I see. So do you have a name, other than Death?"

"Yes, but it is unpronounceable by humans, being written in the forgotten language from before the tower of Babel." He paused. "You're not afraid of me."

"No," I said slowly. "I'm not. You're not as scary as some people think."

    Death's eyes widened. "You're, you're, you're-"

I backed away from him. "Helen." I finished his sentence grimly. "What are you going to do to Julia?"

He sighed. "I will have to do nothing. Look up."

I looked up the rocky cliff and saw a person at the top. "Oh, no!" I cried. "Julia! What are you doing?"

She shouted back. "I'm sorry, Samantha- or should I say, Helen." And with that, she jumped.

To the ground that I was standing on, fifty feet below her.

    To her death.

    Or was it Death?
