"E-Excuse me?" I said, startled by the girl standing in front of me wearing a months supply of Spandex. She sighed, as if annoyed that I wasn't getting it, "YOU said last night that you hated it here, and that you wanted to get out. Here we are." I quickly shook my head, "No you don't understand, that's not what I meant-" "Same ****. Now c'mon!" she tugged at my arm and flung a plastic bag full of black cloth which I suspect was a similar Spandex suit. I followed her into the tiny rest room cubicle, "Now, what exactly is the plan?" She whipped her hair into a ponytail before exiting the room and giving me a smirk, "You'll see," with that, she shut the door, leaving me staring at my reflection at the mirror. I sighed, concluding that there was nothing else I could do, and started pulling out the clothes, which in fact, was the same Spandex. How did I feel about this? Breaking out, I mean. I had always been one to calculate, overanalyze and over think things. I guess I felt excited, yet nervous. Kind of when you're about to steal the last cookie from the jar, you're excited by the taste of the treat against your lips, but nervous that you'll get caught when you reach your hand into the container. As I pulled the suit over my legs, I thought of after. If we DID get out, what would happen? What would I do? Would Sara and I depart? I assume we wouldn't depart. Three days and I already feel attached. To supply for our living, I would probably get a part-time job, and start pick-pocketing again. But there was one flaw. Eventually they'd find out. They'd discover that we're missing. I don't know what tricks the Director has up his sleeve, but I'm sure I wouldn't like it against me. We could move to a foreign country, I thought with a flutter of my stomach. Get an alias. Live exotically. I hurriedly finished putting on the suit. I was starting to like this plan more and more. I opened the door and saw Sara stuffing things into a duffel bag. I emerged and stood behind her, hands on my hips. "Now tell me. What's the plan?" She turned and saw me, smiling smugly a bit at my outfit before answering, "Greg. He knows where they keep the keys. But the entrances are guarded with scanners and CCTVs and stuff, so he's going to help us enter a room, I think it's the conference room, with a window. We can take off from there. Simple." she said in one breath. I raised my eyebrow, "You sure we can trust this Greg guy?" She gaped at me like I had just said that I liked staying here, "O-Of course!" she laughed, rolling her eyes. I shrugged, "Well, let's go." "Greg said he'll just come knocking on our do-" As if on cue, a knock sounded, and Sara giddily skipped to the door, her duffle back swinging in her wrist. "Let me tell you about Greg," she said, giggling, "He's so trustworthy. And loyal. And sweet. He'd never betray me!" She said the last line with a flourish and flung the door open, greeting Greg with open arms. "Stay right where you are!" Her smile dropped and mine did too as we both stared at group of people before us. They had injections and gas tanks, and Greg stood in the middle, the keys dangling from his finger. "They said they'd give me better food," he shrugged. The nurses started enclosing on us, and we had a millisecond to decide what to do. We were both thinking the same thing. "Run!" We took off, with I grabbing the keys and Sara heading to the conference room. I heard the footsteps behind me, but I didn't dare to look. We both smashed into the door and I jingled with the keys. "C'mon, c'mon," I murmured, "C'mon,-YES!" The door flew open and we bombarded inside, shutting the door behind us, to which it evidently locked again. The window stood in the center of the wall, and Sara took no time climbing over and jumping. I watched her figure emerge from the bottom, and I hovered over the window, terrified. It brought me back to a memory. The sun was shining as the woven basket clung to my arms. Fruits and vegetables rolled around in it, and I was heading home. My family, consisting of my three sisters and I, had rented an apartment and for once, life was fairly good. ~*Ring*~ "Hello?" "Li?! Li?!" "Tanya..! What's wrong?" The shakiness in her voice was evident, "Are you-Are you near the apartment?" "Just around the corner, why?" I heard her suck in a breath. "I'm sorry." "Tany-" ~*Click*~ Something was wrong. Something was definitely wrong. I ran now, in the direction of the apartment. Suddenly, I heard a scream, and soon everyone was pointing at the sky. "Huh..?" "That's TANYA! THAT'S MY SISTER!" A voice rang out, and I knew it was Sofia. She ran to me screaming, and I gazed to the clouds, and was met with a horrifying sight. My sister, my beautiful sister, standing on the twentieth floor, ready to take a leap. She stared directly at my eyes, and maybe the distance was too far, but I mouthed in desperation, "Don't." But maybe the distance WAS to far. Because she jumped. "Li?" I was still watching my sister fall. "Li!" Watching her small frame pummel through the sky, like a broken bird. "LI!!" My attention snapped back to Sara, who was calling me from the ground. "Gosh darnnit LI! JUMP!" she yelled. I turned back and saw that the door knob was being turned; they must've found a separate key. I then face the window, gulping. Just jump. I swear, at that moment, it wasn't my subconscious that was speaking. For that moment, the voice sounded like Tanya's. I sucked in a breath and jumped. I felt the wind rush through me for the slightest of seconds, and before I knew it, I crashed into the ground, rolling across the grass. "Li!" I saw hazily a hand reach and out, and I saw my hand reach out and accept it. I felt myself being pulled upwards and being tugged to the direction of the road. Soon, Sara and I were running in the darkness, to our new futures. ? Comments are appreciated!
Oh my gosh when she was in the flashback it reminded me of this show I saw once. A mental patient jumped out… But anyways, I love it! I love how you use great detail, and I can really imagine the scene in my head. I love Sara's personality, and how she seems like she would be a wimp but she's actually great at everything. I love how I can feel real emotions for this. That's what a great writer does. And I love how this plot is so original. There's probably 50 love triangle FF stories. But there's only one of this. You're WAAAAAY better than a lot of published authors. Amazing.
Ohmygosh Angela...that's probably one of the sweetest things a reader as said to me! Thank you! Comments like that means so much to me I can't even- I love it. Seriously. Thank you so much! I love you Pluto and back! Thank you!
Obviously, I'm dealing with TheAndi, a very organized, and well known person in FF, for her substantial writing. And no less. First, I love flashbacks, they simply give me credential mobility of what's the main purpose why this story is at this end. Good job, you need more of those, they drive me nuts. Second, I think that more action is the real motive. Oh yes, the action! The jumping! That's the adrenaline that I want to read! It fascinates me, and wants me to coop up in your reading, you must inquire more. Lastly, I think that you are doing a great job and that this has real potential, of nobody is gonna be a jerk about this. Good luck on this story, it's a complete joy. ~Toxic
