The next few hours I would spend in this room until dinner. I decided I'd read until then. I picked a book from the shelf called "Sense and Sensibility" and opened it. It was written by a nineteenth century author named Jane Austen. I remembered her name from my literary class and I had been meaning to pick up some of her books. As I read I found it rather endearing and I couldn't put it down. Hours passed and before I knew it it was already eight in the evening. There was a loud knock that startled me and I slammed the book down on the table beside me. "Y-yes?!" Suddenly the doors opened and Dante walked in, his face looked rather annoyed. "Where the hell were you? I sent many of my servants up here to get you and you never came down." I thought for a second. Servants? There was no one who came up... "I don't recall there being anyone who came for me." He rolled his eyes. "I don't care. Get your ass downstairs and eat. But if you want to starve, then go ahead and be my guest," he said and he left the room, shutting the doors harshly behind him. I flinched and stood up. Why was he so rude? I sighed and I made my way down to the dining hall. I stood in agape as I entered the room. There was a large crystal chandelier that hung from the patterned ceiling over a long dining table that was made from a gorgeous colored wood. The chairs were beautifully patterned and sat eight on each side of the table. Dante sat at one end and another place setting at the other end. "You. Sit." I immediately took a seat. I began to feel nervous and my hands began to shake. I accidentally dropped my napkin onto the wooden floor. As I retrieved it, I banged the back of my head on the bottom of the table. "Ouch!" "What the hell are you doing?" asked Dante. "S-sorry... I accidentally bored my head," I said and I nearly placed the napkin on my lap. One of the female servants poured me a glass of water and I nodded in appreciation. "Thank you." "It's no problem, miss. It's my job," she said kindly. I smiled. However, my smile faded when I knocked over the glass. "What is with you?" asked Dante and he stood up. "I swear you're like crazy or something. Clean this mess up yourself," he said and he wiped his mouth with his napkin enforce placing it on the table. "Excuse me, I'm going to my room. Helena." "Yes?" "Be up at eight tomorrow." "Eight?" "Yes. Remember what I said? We're going out tomorrow and buying you more clothes and getting your hair, nails and your facial appearance done." "But I have school tomorrow..." "You will do as I say," he said and with that he left me. I looked down at my plate and sighed. At this rate I would most likely miss too many things at school. What if I had to repeat a year? No... I was taking things to an extreme. There was no way he was going to make me miss a lot of school, right? I woke up the next morning rather early. As I looked over at the clock, it read four in the morning and I groaned. I fell back into my pillow before sighing and getting up. I threw on my robe and went downstairs. The house was eerily quiet when no one was awake. Of course there were times at home when it was quiet... but in a place as big as this it felt unnerving. "Maybe I'll get something to eat," I said and I headed towards the kitchen. It was a fairly large kitchen with everything a professional chef should have. I merely went to the fridge and opened it up to reveal a large amount of food. "I choose you," I said and I grabbed an apple and block of cheese and put them on the counter. I searched through the cupboards for some plates and eventually found them. I cut the apple and the cheese and sat down to eat. Just as I was about to take a bite, the kitchen door swing open. "What are you doing?" I dropped the apple slice in my hand and gulped. My eyes trailed from my plate and up to Dante, who stood shirtless in the doorway. "N-nothing." "Idiot. What is that?" he asked and he pointed to my plate. "That looks like something," he said. "Um... it's apple slices and cheese," I said softly. "Would you like some?" I asked and I gestures towards my plate. He grimaced and shook his head. "No." "Suit yourself," I said and I took a piece of apple and bit into it. The sweet taste spread through my mouth and I took another bite. "Oh my God! This is so good!" I said happily. "You're such a child. It's just an apple. Anyways, why are you up so early?" I swallowed and smirked. "Why are you?" He frowned. "I couldn't sleep." "Neither could I," I said. "Here take a seat and have some." "I said no." "Fine. Excuse me for trying to be pleasant," I said and I took another bite of the apple. "Ahh, this apple is so good. Really Dante you should try some. It has a very sweet taste! I'm sure you'll like it." "God. Whatever. Fine," he grumbled and he reached over and jacked an apple slice off my plate and shoved it in his mouth. He chewed and swallowed and narrowed his eyes at me. "It's just a God damn apple. It doesn't taste any different." "Well to me it does," I responded. "Freak." I growled. "Oh shut up," I said. "Don't be so uptight. Go back to bed or have a coffee or something." "You expect me to make it myself?" "You've never made yourself a coffee? Really? Wow. I can't imagine how much longer you'll be able to live like you're a God. People who wait on you all the time... eventually it's all going to go away. You may as well start learning how to take care of yourself," I said and I ate a piece of cheese. His face grew red in anger and he walked towards the exit. "Get your ass back in your room in the next ten minutes. Do what you want there until we are to leave. Understand?" I nodded. "Good," he said and he left. I shrugged and continued eating. There was a word to describe him but for some reason I couldn't think of what it was.
