I'm so sorry I haven't updated. I have this family issue going on, and I have other stories to work on, too. So here's your late update… ------------------------------------- Lydia's POV Red. At first I could only see red eyes, piercing through the morning mist. Then it stepped forward and I saw his hideous, gruesome face. It looked like a lion had chewed up his head and spit it out, leaving grotesque scars and deformed features. I tore my gaze away from the face and gaped at the ground. Underneath the black flowing cloak was… nothing. He seemed to be floating. "Edward," the demon hissed. "Why is she still alive?" "A-alive…?" I squeaked in terror, whipping around to look at Edward. "****." His mouth was set in a grim line. "Kill her. Kill her now. Why is she not dead?" The demon stared viciously at me. Please don't. I silently prayed to Edward, backing up against the wall. But he didn't even glance at me. He seemed to be battling within himself. The demon held out a knife glinting wickedly in the dim rays of sun. Edward stepped to the door. Was this the end? Was this how I was going to die? Then he slammed the door shut with so much force the house shook. "RUN!" He screamed, latching onto my arm and dragging me along. I skidded across the carpet, sliding to my feet when we reached the hard wooden floor of the kitchen. We crouched low against the counter. "Do you think he's gone?" I whispered hopefully. I was answered by a thunderous crash and the demon's aggravated scream. He tried many times before giving up. We ducked to the floor as his shadow passed the window, slowly and deliberately. Edward beckoned to me and we slowly crawled away to the front door. As his shadow began to move again, we flattened ourselves against the sofa. Then I heard it. A tick, tick, tick. The look on Edward's face said it all. "BOMB!!" I screamed, bolting upright and racing to the door. Edward clutched my hand as I kicked open the door. We dove out, rolling away down an alley. Then the house exploded behind us. ------------------------------------- One down, two to go. Sigh.
Edward's POV ****. I didn't kill Lydia. I couldn't bring myself to. Now I had to pay. "Come on, you *****!" I practically screamed at her, dragging her down the alley. She looked partially upset at my outburst, but that look was soon replaced with fear. I was absolutely petrified, but I'm the supernatural one here, she's only a human. I had to try and keep calm, and keep her calm, or everything would get a little bit chaotic. By a little bit, I meant Demons and Death kind of chaotic. I figured that we should get under cover, the Demons were very quick in flight. They could catch up with us at any point. I hoped that we would be quicker, for Lydia's sake. She looked totally confused, the poor thing. I would have a lot of explaining to do... We practically flew through the streets, which I noted were surprisingly empty for a Saturday. It felt like we were the last people on Earth. Maybe we were. I looked ahead, into the distance and saw an old barn of some sort. The door was slightly ajar, the red paint peeling off like dried blood. It was about a 250metre run away. I turned to Lydia, still running, and shouted "Run! As fast as you can! We have to get to that barn before they catch up with us!" She looked tired, worn out. I felt guilty for pulling her into this. But, nothing could be done. I had gotten us into this mess and I would get us back out. Hopefully. We were nearly at the barn, when I heard something over my head. I looked up, to be met with the grotesque face of a Demon. Oh ****. We had to hurry. I yanked on Lydia's arm, pulling her closer to me, pushing her to run faster. Suddenly, one of them swooped down and landed in front of us. It snarled, a gruesome, disgusting sound. I heard Lydia retch beside me. Pulling her closer, I whispered "Just follow my lead". I had a plan forming. I skilfully weaved past the demon, Lydia following. He went to my left, the direction I made out I was going to, but as quick as lightning, I swerved to my right, sprinting with every last drop of energy I had left. Finally we reached the door of the barn. Shoving Lydia inside, I slammed the door shut. I heard a voice in my head saying We'll be back... With more. You'll be sorry you betrayed us... It was the Demons, toying with me, trying to make me afraid. Well, they had already succeeded in that department. I looked at Lydia sprawled on the floor, a totally confused expression on her face. "What the hell just happened?" I walked to her side, sitting down on the cold floor beside her, setting her upright. "Lydia, there's something you need to know. If you want to survive" I said, my voice low. "I'm listening..." she said, sarcastically. "I'm a vampire-sort of supernatural being. I kill girls for a living. I was meant to kill you, but I didn't. So this is what happens when I don't kill. I get killed. And you too. Probably." She nodded, taking it all in. Then her expression changed. "Why didn't you kill me?" she asked softly. I pulled her close, looking into her eyes. "Because... I think I've fallen in love with you" I whispered. I leaned in, bringing our lips together with a sigh. It was amazing. Sparks flew everywhere. Eventually, she pulled away. "Mmhmm.." she murmured "That's why they say vampires are so damn sexy.." She brought my lips to hers once more, and for that time, nothing else mattered. I shrugged it all off with a groan, then we melted into the firey blaze of passion. #•#•#•#•#•#•#•#•#•#•#•#•#•#•#•#•#•#•# Whoop whoop! Forgive me, I had to write it at some point!!!
