    Rosetta's POV

I pulled my black hair out of the bun, watching Vanessa yell for her mother in the white room she was in. I frowned at the sight, knowing how bad it must be for the ten year old girl.

"Hey," I heard, making me jump out of my skin. I turned to see Brandon smiling to me.

    "Oh, hey, Brandon," I smiled.

"You seemed really good with her," he commented.

"I love children. I always have," I smiled, remembering how well I took care of the sweet and devious children.

"Sounds like it. And she really seemed to trust you."

"Yeah, she did." I frowned, looking at the innocent girl.

"Where am I?! Where is my mother?! Let me go! I want to see my mom!" Vanessa howled. I cringed at the pain and sadness in her voice. Brandon took my hand, leading me away from the room and Vanessa. Soon we were in the break room. Alone.

"Rose, you are okay...right?" he asked.

"I...I don't know. I just know that I hope nothing wrong will happen," I said, leaning on a wall.

"Nithing bad is going to happen, Rose. I promise you that," Brandon said, pulling me off of the wall, his face close to mine.

"You can't make a promise that you can't control," I whispered.

"But I promise I won't let anything happen to you, Rose. I promise you that."

"Why do you car about me so much?"

    "Well, I..."

    Brandon's POV

"Well, I..." I started. I was about to tell her I loved her.

"I am your partner," I said, chickening out.

"What does that have to do with anything?" she whispered, a smile in her voice, as if she knew.

"I have to care about you, protect you. It's not my job, but I just feel that I need to do that," I whispered, our faces almost touching. I could have kissed her right then.

"Hey," we heard, springing apart like we had a few days earlier in the white room. We saw Michael, smirking at us.

"What the hell was that?" he asked, trying not to laugh.

"Nothing! Nothing at all," Rose said frantically, her face beet red.

"Alright. Well, Mr. Davies need to see you two," he smiled, walking away.

"That was close," I heard Rose whisper.

"Let's just go," I said, lightly pushing her ahead of me. I heard laughing down the hall, knowing it was Michael. I swear, I wanted to kill him. We walked to find Mr. Davies watching a news report.

"Ten year old Vanessa Cantrell has been proclaimed missing. Last she was seen at her school. But no one knows with who or where she could be," the news reporter said expressionlessly.

"I-I just want to say t-that I-I want my d-daughter back," Mrs. Cantrell said, sniffling. "I-I just h-hope t-that she'll be brought back."

I smiled, glad that the mother was do sad. Heartless, I know. But she deserved it.

"That was Rebecca Cantrell. If you know anything about Vanessa's whereabouts, call this number," the reporter said, a number showing up at the bottom of the screen. I saw Michael grab a phone book, fanning through it to find Rebecca Cantrell's number. He gave it to Mr. Davies, letting him call the number. Time for some fun.
