I was crying, looking down at Michael in the coffin. I felt so sad. I hadn't stopped crying for the weeks after he died. And Brandon held me, soothed me, care for me all that time, waiting as he said he would. "Rose, let's let other people see him," Brandon said, kissing the top of my head. I nodded and let him lead me to the seats that lined up for the relatives and friends of Michael and Rebecca. I didn't know why they had both funerals at the same time. But I didn't really care. I turned to see Vanessa in the arms of her father, Jonathan Cantrell. She was crying like I was. I turned to see many people I didn't know go up to the podium to talk about Michael and Rebecca. I didn't pay much attention since I would have rather not have gone. I was lost in my own world, hearing their words but not registering them. Soon it was my turn. I stood and walked up to the podium, grief stricken. I looked out to the crowd, looking at the men, women, and children. "I am truly sorry for the loss of Michael," I choked out. "I fell in love with that kindhearted man. He was an amazing man who risked his life to help me in my time of need. I never thanked him personally, but I know he knew it. He was just wonderful. And I know some of you knew him and will miss him. And I know I will. Thank you." I stepped down, my face wet with tears. Brandon pulled me into his arms as I sat down, trying to calm me down. Soon everyone had finished with their speeches and most were heading out, not wanting feel any more depression. Brandon and I were two of those people, knowing it would be too unbearable if I was there much longer. "Mrs. Mitchells!" I heard. I turned to see Vanessa running towards me, cheeks stained by tears. "Mrs. Mitchells?" Brandon asked, smiling warmly, a huge difference to the darkness of the funeral. "I'll tell you later," I replied, soon hugging Vanessa in my arms. "Mrs. Mitchells. Where are you going to go?" she asked. "Away to relax. Away to calm down and get away from the sadness that has overcome this town," I replied. "Will I see you again?" she asked. "Possibly. If so, I promise to look forward to it." I stood, smiling at her father. "You have the sweetest child, you know." "She is, isn't she? I'm sorry for your loss," he said, frowning. "Sorry for yours," I whispered and watched them walk away. I was about to turn away when a woman who looked like Michael approached me. When she came closer to me I saw she had the blue eyes of Rebecca and the blond hair of Michael. "You're Rosetta, right?" she asked. "Yes, I am," I replied. "Who are you?" Brandon asked. "I'm Sophia Bennett, Rebecca and Michael's sister," she said, causing me to stare at her.
