  7. While strolling through the city of Degorath, Guy spotted a few people huddled in an alley. Strolling over casually, he saw these huge men, both big and burly, arm-wrestling over a table. It was obvious who was going to win, the man with his back to the wall had the upper hand. After a few more seconds the winner was clear. The loser walked away slowly, nursing a red hand.

"Anyone else wanna go?" The winner roared out, grinning broadly. Guy looked around, and as no one else volunteered, he raised his hand, stepping into the circle and kneeling. He was a good six inches taller than the man, although he was six inches thinner as well.

Guy placed his arm down, waiting patiently for the bets to exchange hands. Then, when all has settled, the champion sat, and put his arm down.

"You feeling lucky, princess?" he growled. Guy merely held his peace and waited for the sign.

"Go!" the self appointed ref shouted, and the champion immediately put all his strength into trying to push Guy's hand down, face turning red with effort. Guy, on the other hand, sat there with an amused expression, holding him off easily. Then, after he got bored, he pushed lightly and slammed the guys arm down, everyone in the crowd gasping in shock.

    "No way!"
    "Did you see that?"
"Looked like he didn't even try..."

Guys stood up, rolled his shoulder around, then walked casually on his way, picking up an apple from a nearby stall, taking a large bite.

    The Road to Strength
    By: Me :D
    --------------------------------------------

The old man stopped by the side of the road, where a giant man was laying. The old man poked him with his walking stick, and, upon hearing a groan from the giant, promptly poured some water on his head. The giant flicked his tongue from his lips, lapping up some of the water, then sat up, rubbing his head.

"Ugh, where the hell am I?" he asked the old man, who gazed intently at him, then shrugged and gestured for the giant to follow. He then started down the road again, and Guy, for indeed it was he, stared after him before scrambling up and following.

After a few hours walk, Guy was holding in the most gruesome curses and oaths ever, but because of the old man's silence, he held his tongue. After a few more minutes, the old man turned towards a humble shack, resting on the side of the road. He went in, and waved Guy in as well.

Guy stooped to enter the doorway, then gazed around in shock at the old man's style of living. There was no furniture, only a meager table, and a pit in which charcoal suggested was used for fire. The man pointed to a corner, and Guy followed the finger, finding several pots and pans stacked neatly there. The old man pointed to a large pot under many others, and Guy reached it without much difficulty. He placed it on the little stand, and by following the old man's Solent instructions, found the means to light a flame underneath.

After running out of the shack for a moment to grab some water, which he noticed on the way in, he poured it into the pot, causing hissing as the metal had heated. The old man reached into a pouch that Guy had not seen before, pulling out meat, causing Guy's stomach to growl. The old man smiled, putting the meat in the boiling water, then throwing some spices and vegetables in, all of these things coming from the old mans sack.

A delicious smell filled the air after a little while of sitting in silence, and the man withdrew a long wooden spoon as well, proceeding to mix up the stew. After waiting a little longer, the man pointed yet again, and Guy saw a stack of bowls beside the pots, from which he took two and offered them to the old man.

The old man smiled, filling them up with stew and handing Guy a spoon, also from within the depths of the sack. Guy then proceeded to devour the food, before catching the stern gaze on the old mans face.

He stopped, freezing at such an intimidating gaze, even though it was a mute old man who did it. The old man took a bite of his stew, chewed slowly, then nodded his head. Guy then began eating his stew slowly, watching the old man and making sure not to do something he wasn't supposed to.

After they both had eaten their fill, Guy took the dishes outside and washed them in the water, handing the spoons back to the old man and replacing the pot and bowls.

Then, suddenly, the old man spoke, in a quiet wheezing voice.

"You, who are so large, why is it that you seem so feeble?" Guy flinched at these words, but stared into the flames and replied after a short time.

"I do not wish to be hostile, but everyone takes it as weakness. When you think about it... I am feeble." he sighed, looking back at the old man's face.

"Hostility and defense are two completely different things, young man... If you wish to defend yourself, you are not being hostile, merely defensive." The old man gazed back, his powerful eyes completely mismatched from his frail body "Come, get some rest. Tomorrow, you learn how to be defensive, not hostile"
