Fawn reached over taking Chris hand. "This isn't good." She'd heard Valerie approach but these steps weren't human. They also weren't like the wolves she'd heard before. She thought about the things she was told would be on the island. "Minders" she said softly.
"Amber." Claire whispered staring at the woods. She overheard Fawn and Chris's conversation as she was heading towards them but stopped in her tracks once she had processed what she heard
Alex dropped the wood and looked around. "Minders..." He grabbed Amber hand and pulled her back to the others. When he released her, he picked up Fawn. "We have to move... now."
Fawn was already seeing things. She shut her eyes tightly against the fleeting visions that only got worse, the more she breathed in.
Valeri: "oh no..." Alex held Fawn in his arms. "Its not real Fawn. Dont let it screw with your head."
"This is bad..." Claire breathed out. Like Fawn, Amber was also seeing things. Suddenly she saw an orange haired woman in a white lab coat in front of her. "Lyra? Is that you?" Amber reached out to touch her face but the scene suddenly switched to when her sister was going to be executed. Alice composed herself as her surroundings changed to a familiar one. "Should've known this is what they'll be using against me."
Fawn curled up breathing hard her father was here and her little brother she shied a away from them, tears in her eyes. "I'm sorry... I'm so sorry" she said quietly over and over again
Chris can feel the tension everywhere, as if each of her companions have their own battles inside their heads. "Minders. she mouthed then after a minute, realization knocks. She's not affected, her eyes widened by the thought. "W-Why am I not affected? I don't see or feel anything, nothing's happening."
"Chris." Claire called out. "You're not affected because you can't see anything." She said, trying hard to pull away from the vision she was seeing.
Someone was calling her name. It was muffled and distorted but she heard it. Several scenes flashed be fore her, her old home, the bodies, being taken away. All the bodies of people shed killed, so many bodies. She shuddered and shoved the memories away, focussing on her name and whoever was calling it.
Amber's eyes widened as she saw her sister look to her one last time before being shot. A single sentence causing her to lose it. "This is all your fault." "No... No. I didn't even do anything!!! It's not my fault!!!" Amber screamed. "You didn't do anything... That's why I died... You're useless." Lyra's voice lingered around her. "No." Amber whimpered.
"R-Right. Claire's right." and with that Chris stopped and turned back. She went towards the cold fog that serves as the cover for the Minders. 'This time, I'll be useful.' she said to herself. She's plannng on taking the Minders down, she's very good at close ranged combat after all─ at least she has that. She also figured that maybe the minders were not very good fighters that's why they needed a cover, for them to not be sighted and attacked. But that won't be a problem to Chris─ not seeing your enemy is not a big deal, she's been blind her whole life.
Alice's surroundings shifted again, this time it was more homey. "Mom." Alice whispered her eyes wide. She saw her mother on the ground before her, crimson blood splattered all over herbody and on the floor around her. Alice looked next to her mother where her little brother lay. "Stephen..." Alice murmured. Then she noticed one thing, their hearts were missing. Her eyes widened as she rushed to the living room of their house. Halting in her tracks as she saw herself burning their hearts in the fireplace... "No... It's an illusion..." Alice whispered, but howcome it felt so real
"I'm not useless..." Amber whispered closing her eyes shut. Trying to fill her mind with memories of her and her sister she squeezed her eyes shut tighter. "I. am. Not. Useless." Amber growled out as she opened her eyes once again. "Amber catch!" Claire threw her other knife at Amber, once she saw that Amber had snapped out of it. Amber and Claire quickly rushed to where Chris was. "What's the plan?"
