Strange Idols?

I ran into the nearest entryway I could find big enough for only one of us. It wouldn’t be able to fit through the opening of the cave. The beast was too big. I turned around when I was fifteen feet from the opening and looked back just as the beast’s head flew through, its shoulders slamming against the rock. I smiled as I lifted up what it was guarding, an enchanted ring. The ring was made of many strange jewels. The tale goes, the carrier will get great power upon wearing the ring. Nobody, of course, has proven this right, but I will. I slipped the ring on my finger and laughed at the beast. It slid its head out, and made a horrific sound, and left. I stood there for a minute, confused. Did the beast give up? Or was it running away from something? I smiled down at the ring. Of course it was running from something. It was running away from me. Then, I heard something behind me. I turned around and didn’t see anything. I went to take another step, curiosity pulling me towards the sound, when I rock fell a few feet in front of me. I looked up and I saw stars. Except these weren’t white and bright like stars in the sky. I blinked a few times, but nothing changed. I felt something fall onto my chest. I grabbed it, and held it up to my face. Its eyes were so peculiar. They were wide, all white, but one small red spot in the middle. The bug itself looked like a beetle, but larger. The bug’s pupil began to move. The red traveled circular to the outside of its eye. It kept circling and I started to feel a little light-headed. I felt more of these bugs fall onto my body, but I stopped worrying about it. Then I felt pain on my neck. But I didn’t worry. All of a sudden I could feel the cold ground against my face. After that, all I saw was red.

I woke up, not knowing where I was. I looked around. I seemed to have been in an alley. It was dark. I walked forward into the light. I looked around me, not able to identify my surroundings. I felt something cold on my finger. I looked down to find a ring with many strange jewels. I remembered the ring. Then I saw the red. It was all over my hands. It smelled like iron. I remembered the face of the woman as I stabbed her over and over again. And the scream. It was music to my ears.

"THE STRANGE IDOL"​

There was a group of five friends, namely: Alice, Bryan, Nina, Luke, and Sam, who were headed to an island (by sailboat) for their summer vacation together. The island had the name "Carmesí" which means crimson in Spanish. The island looked isolated since it was covered with trees and didn't have any people to be seen.

[ALICE]
Wow, this place looks nothing like the one in the brochure... Are you guys sure we're at the right island?

[NINA]
Let me check... It's quarter to 9... Gosh, there isn't even any around signal here.

[SAM]
Ugh, you're right.

[LUKE]
Guys, let's just look for a place to stay. I'm still beat from the trip going here.

[BRYAN]
Let's follow this path.. maybe it'll lead to an Inn or something.

[LUKE]
Look! Maybe we could stay in that cabin over there up the hill.

[NINA]
This island is already giving me the chills. Let's hurry up. These bags aren't gonna carry themselves you know.

**Luke turns on the light**

Geez...

[NINA]
OMG, this cabin looks abandoned. We are totally at the wrong island, aren't we?

[SAM]
Nina chill. Let's just get settled down.. My feet hurt from all that walking.

[ALICE]
Sam's right. Let's unpack first then explore this island. After all it's still 9:00 A.M...

[BRYAN]
Don't forget to eat breakfast.

[ALICE]
Oh, you're right.. Did anyone bring anything to eat? I brought some snacks, but those
won't be enough for breakfast.

[LUKE]
I brought some.

[SAM]
Cool. Let's eat before we leave. Good thing the kitchen's alright...

**finishes unpacking then eats breakfast**

So... did anyone google this place before?

[SAM]
Hmm, weird... This island wasn't even on google when I searched it. The results were just a bunch of wack.

[ALICE]
Nothing? Not even a single site?

[SAM]
Well, there was one.. It said about 'ghosts wandering around the island'? I don't know.. It said: 'Before, the island was a place for sacrificing people' blah blah blah... Must've been where they got the name "Carmesí" from...

[ALICE]
Wait, what?

[NINA]
WTH Sam?! You better not be scaring us.. We literally just got here an hour ago and you're just telling this now?

[SAM]
Not everything you see in the internet is real.. might be just some made up bologna.

[BRYAN]
Well... If you guys wanna go see if the stories are real then I'm down.

[NINA]
I'm not.

[ALICE]
I don't know... It might be dangerous.

[LUKE]
I'm with Alice.

[SAM]
Meh.

[BRYAN]
Come on guys, we're just gonna see if it's real or not. And besides, what could possibly go wrong?

[NINA]

"June 01, 2006.... It really is the luckiest day of my life! My boss gave me a break from work and I even won a free six-days vacation trip to an island! "June 04, 2006.... I just noticed some of the people here are missing or have left each day.. That's weird.. I don't remember any boat to pick them up when they were leaving. Also, when I was walking around the island..I found some kind of strange artifact or idol. I don't know what it is and what it's for but I'm keeping it for now... must be worth something."

There's something nailed to that tree over there.. I wonder what it is.. Guys, go check it out.

[LUKE]

[BRYAN]

I don't know why I'm still writing in this book, but I hope someone would read this. The strange idol is called something like "Mekahri". The idol is used to summon the spirits and witches of this island... I shouldn't have come here, nobody should have..."

**complete silence fills up the atmosphere**

[LUKE]
He might be in danger! Let's find him quick!

**everyone searches for Bryan**

[SAM]

[NINA]
The lake... the journal said go to the lake.. What are we waiting for?! Let's go!!

**arrives at lake**

[ALICE]
That's Bryan's phone over there! **grabs and turns on phone**

[NINA]
It's his selfie from before... and I think there's something behind him..

[ALICE]

[SAM]

[ALICE]
Bryan... he's gone...they took him...

**suddenly, a large blaze of fire appeared in front of them. Burning the trees around the lake**

** whispers... then screams of souls in pain fill their ears**

**it became pitch black...**

Since then, they were nowhere to be found...

We all knew this was coming. We would talk about how strange Oscar was. He would sit in the back of classes, drawing in his notebooks, and despite how much he tried to stay out of the way, he was always bullied. He was the living example of a victim, and we knew he would crack in one way or another eventually.

I knew a little more about him than most of the other students, since my dad worked at the same company as his. I had heard mention that his father was an avid bird watcher with many feeders in the backyard, and was grateful for the sudden disappearance of the blackbirds that had been scaring off the less common birds in the area.

Ordinarily, I wouldn't have paid any attention to such a boring story except recently, people around the city, including Oscar's father, have disappeared after receiving a box with a strange figure made out of the mangled corpse of a blackbird.

Yesterday, I made a mistake and told my friend about it, only to find out he was just around the corner. My friend did not show up for classes today, but in his seat was a single strange little...I don't know what to call it...idol? It's swollen eyes were staring right at me, I could almost hear it whisper my name as I stared into them. I got home as quick as I could, luckily that was my only class of the day, relieved to find no package on my door.

Wait what was that?

I can hear someone on the other side of the door. Oh god, I think that bird was for me!

"The birds have chosen you. Every one whispers a name to me with their last breath."
