  14. Part 69: Jenna's Point of View

I haven't talked to Mason in weeks. 3 weeks to be exact. It's hard though, he tried finding me in the hallways a couple of times, to "talk" to me. But, I didn't want anything to do with him. My heart is broken. I cry myself to sleep every night, all because of him.

Aubree clings to his every move, and watches him like a hawk. Not that I've seen it, Sydney and Nicole tell me about it. I take the long way to class, to avoid him at all costs. Who cares if I'm late? I can't take seeing him. It reminds me of how much pain he's putting me through.

Carter almost whooped his donkey, Owen did too. They had it all planned out, to beat the shiet out of him. So bad that he needed medical attention.

My Dad wanted to also, but basketball season was starting. The team needs Carter, Owen, and as much as I hate it, they really need Mason. If they beat him up, each of them would be suspended for the season. My school doesn't tolerate violence.

I was sitting in the livingroom with Mom. "Are you going to be okay honey?" She asked softly.

I shook my head. "I don't know Mom. It's just so hard...I mean, why did he lie to me? If he didn't like me, he shouldn't have said he did."

I let out a frustrated sigh. Mason texts me a lot too. He's left me a couple of voicemails, asking if he should come over for tutoring. Carter gave him a 'warning'. Basically telling Mason; "Stay the duck away from my sister, you {insert bad word here}."

I looked down at my phone again. Checking the time. I pulled open my messages, aimlessly scrolling through them. My thumb grazed over a message that opened a text from Mason.

    From Mason:
Why are you mad at me? Are you ever going to talk to me again?

This was on Tuesday, it was Friday now. For the first time in weeks, I sent him a reply.

    To Mason:
Don't tell me you love me, I just might do something crazy. Like believe you.

I hadn't said anything since then. He kept texting me, but I would just delete them without even reading them.

Mom kept doing my hair, listening to me. I felt tears start to creep into my eyes again. "Shhh Jenna. Honey you've already cried too many tears over him."

"That's easy for you to say Mom!" I snapped. "You married your first boyfriend! Why aren't there more guys like Dad?" I groaned. "You guys are perfect."

"Carter is exactly like Za-your father." She reminded me.

I took a deep breath, letting it out with a sigh. "Yes Mom, because I can totally date my brother."

She rolled her eyes. "Your hair is done." Mom said. "Can I get you something before we go to the game?"

Tonight was senior night at the high school. It was a big game for Carter. His last home game as a senior at our school. Dad was with him, after all, he was the coach. Mr. Frederick was the assistant coach, he was the reason Mason never got expelled.

I felt my phone vibrate in my pocket. My hands dug in and pulled it out, not even bothering to check who it was from.

    From Mason:
Please. Come to the game tonight.

  15. Uhh. FRENZY?!
