  4. Part 55: Jenna's Point of View

The lunch room was crowded, noise ringing everywhere. Like a zoo.

I hadn't seen Mason since this morning when he hugged me. His eyes had looked pained..

I felt an arm wrap around my waist and a presence beside me. Lips pressed against my cheek. A part of me wished that it was Mason. But I knew it wasn't.

"Hey, beautiful." I heard Owen's voice say. My eyes shifted to look over at his smiling face. All today I heard girls whispering about us when we walked down the hallway hand in hand. "Oh my gosh! She's so lucky. Owen is PERFECT."

I feel like it will be more work than fun, being Owen's girlfriend. I mean, he has a 'perfect prince charming' reputation to uphold. My life isn't a fairytale.

"Hey." I returned his smile. Seriously, why does he smile so much? Doesn't his mouth get tired?

"How's your day going so far? I haven't seen you since I walked you to advisory." It was true. Owen is a senior, and he's really smart too. So we don't have any classes together.

"It's all right, I guess." I shrugged. Owen took my hands in his and turned me so I was facing him.

"Just all right?" I nodded. "Is there anything I can do to make it better?" He asked, while playing with my fingers. He does that a lot.

I shook my head. "No, I think I just woke up in a funny mood." Owen nodded and let one hand drop, while holding on to the other one. "How's your day?"

"Pretty good. I aced my calculus test, and now I'm with a beautiful girl that I get to call my girlfriend." He flashed me his smile, again. Did he ever get upset? "Vinny is out though.."

"How come?" Vinny was Owen's best friend. Kind of like my dad's Josh. He was hilarious. I really liked Vinny, I always have.

"He's sick. Has the flu or something. I think that's what his mom said. "Dang."

"We should make him some soup!" I piped. Owen's green eyes sparkled and a small smile formed on his face once again,

    "Yeah?" He asked.

"Yeah! Sure. I mean, when I'm sick my dad always makes me soup. It helps me feel better."

"You're amazing." He whispered. I raised an eyebrow, how am I amazing? "My best friend is sick and you want to make him soup. It's really sweet." Owen smirked. This wasn't a smirky smirk like Mason's, this one was a teasing, amused smirk. "I don't have to be worried, do I?"

Mason walked into the lunch room and went right over to his usual table. His eyes met mine for a brief second, but then he tore his gaze away.

"No." I shook my head. "Nothing to worry about. Vinny has always been like a big brother to me. That would be incest." I reminded him.

An adorable laugh escaped Owen's lips. "Yes, it would. Good thing we don't have to worry about that." He brought my hand to his lips and kissed it. "So, the soup. Grocery shopping after school and then to my house?"

I nodded, causing his smile to spread. "Sounds good to me."

  5. Part 56: Jenna's Point of View

I walked out of my last period class and headed straight to my locker. Owen was already there, leaning up against the side.

"Hey." I smiled at him. I liked Owen, I really did.

    "Hey, beautiful." He said. "Ready?"

I put my books in my locker and took his hand. "Yeah. Let's go."

We walked out of the school, hand in hand. The air was cool, and crisp. Basketball season was just around the corner.

I saw Mason out of the corner of my eye. He flinched when he saw Owen's hand holding mine. He's the one who told me to say yes. I don't understand why he keeps acting like this. I mean, he's the one that told
    me to..

Owen opened the door to his car for me, and I climbed in, throwing my backpack into the backseat of the car.

His hand immediately took mine again, Owen drove away still gently holding my hand in his grasp.

"What do we need for the soup?" He asked randomly after turning down the music.

I pulled out a piece of paper and we started writing down ideas for ingredients. "Is that it?" I asked.

"Well, do we actually want him to have soup? Or a full holiday meal?" He said as he started laughing.

It's true. We came up with a lot of things to go into the soup. Like a LOT of things. "Probably the soup." I said as I laughed along with him.

Owen and I got everything at the grocery store and we were on the way back to his house.

"Welcome to Casa de Owen." He said flashing me his pearly whites.

"Why thank you!" I laughed. He was so adorable.

    "Not a problem."

Owen and I made the soup, and once we were satisfied that it was good, we sat down on the couch.

I felt my phone buzz in my pocket, I quickly took it out.

    From Mason:
So.. it's 4:30. I'm awkwardly sitting in your living room. Care to show up sometime?

    "Shiet." I swore.

Owen raised an eyebrow at me. "Everything all right?" I shook my head.

"No. Mason, he's at my house. I forgot that he was coming over today."

    Owen nodded. "Oh."

"I'm sorry, I have to go."

  6. Part 57: Jenna's Point of View

"Nice of you to finally show up." Mason said softly as I walked in the door.

"Mason I-" He held his hand up.

"No. It's all right. You were with Owen, I understand. I mean, he IS your boyfriend.." Mason trailed off and I saw a pained look in his eyes.

"You told me to say yes..." I mumbled. Mason seemed to come to a sudden realization. I saw him slightly shake his head. "What?" I asked.

"That wa-you know what? Never mind. You're happy with Owen. That's all that matters." He didn't mean those. There was something he wasn't telling me.

"Okay.." I said reluctantly. He would tell me when he was ready. If he ever was ready.

"Should we get started?" He asked, solving the awkward silence. I nodded.

We worked for about 2 hours on homework, Mason and I were still the only ones here. No one was going to be home this week. Dad had games all week in Boston, Mom obviously went with him and Carter went so he could practice with the team.

"Well, I should probably go.." Mason said.

"No!" I blurted out maybe a little bit too quickly. "I-I mean, you could stay if you wanted. We could watch a movie?"

A small smile formed on Mason's face. "Yeah. I'd like that."

  7. Part 58: Jenna's Point of View

"Greece?" I asked, silently hoping he would say yes. "It's my favorite movie." I said shyly.

His black eyes seemed to sparkle. "Mine too."

"Really?!" All of my friends hated it.

"Obviously." He smiled. "John Travolta is just so incredibly sexy!" Mason said immitating a 'girl's voice'.

"Glad you agree!" I said while laughing hysterically.

We watched the movie in silence for a while. It was nice watching my movie with someone who didn't groan about it, someone who watched it on his own free will.

Toward the end of the movie I was bawling from tears of laughter. My eyes shifted over to see if the movie was having the same effect on Mason as it was on me.

Catching him staring at me made me feel funny. Suddenly my heart was beating rapidly, out of control.

Before I had time to contemplate the moment, Mason threw a pillow at me, and that, of course was the beginning of a massive pillow fight. We raced around the room, mercilessly pounding each other with pillows, until Mason playfully tackled me, knocking to the ground.

We struggled around on the floor for a while, laughing like maniacs, as Mason tried to get my pillow away from me.

But as he was above me, his playfulness faded and was replaced by something else altogether. His hold on suddenly me became an embrace as he drew his mouth down to mine.

He tenderly kissed me. And I have to say, that it was one of the most gentle, passionate, wonderful kisses I have ever expierenced in my whole, entire life.

  11. Part 59: Mason's Point of View

I had her hands pinned above her head. Our lips moving together in perfect harmony.

This is wrong Mason. My mind kept screaming at me. She has a boyfriend. That boyfriend should be me. Owen doesn't love her. But I'm letting him fall for her. Just keep kissing her Mason, remind her that you still love her. You'll never stop.

"Mason." Jenna said when I came up for air. "Mason stop." I sat up abruptly.

"I'm sorry.." I whispered while getting off of her. "I-I should go." What the duck did you just do?

"No!" What? Everytime I go to leave, she stops me. "I-I mean stay. Let's make cookies."

"I like cookies." I smiled. Jenna's cheeks flushed a bright shade of red.

"I know you do. Snickerdoodles are your favorite." My smile grew even wider. She knows my favorite kind of cookie.

"Do you know how to make them?" Iasked.

"With my eyes closed." She said slyly.

  12. Part 60: Jenna's Point of View

    2 Months Later

"Good morning, beautiful." What the duck? My eyes fluttered open and I saw Owen rubbing my back.

"Owen why the dell are you in my house?!" He chuckled. Why was he laughing at me?

"Someone is grumpy in the morning." He said lightly.

"Seriously, Owen. Why are you here?"

Why was I being such a ditch? I'm not sure. "You wanted me to pick you up this morning. Remember?"

Oh yeah. I did. "Oh. Would you mind getting out so I can get dressed?" I asked, this time with a nicer tone.

"Babe, you're already dressed. Carter said you got up and got ready, then went back to sleep." I looked down at my clothes. I AM already dressed.

"Oh uhm. I have to have breakfast.." Owen sighed, but kept rubbing my back.

"I have a muffin for you in the car." He said softly. I closed my eyes and attempted to go back to sleep. "Chocolate chip, it's your favoritee!" He sang quietly into my ear.

"Owen!" I groaned. "Goo awaaay!" He chuckled and picked me up bridal style.

"Come on babe, we're going to be late for school."

"I don't give a flying duck. Put me down."

His lips lightly pressed against his forehead. "Not a chance. I'm not letting you go." He whispered into my ear.

"I'm not paralyzed! I can walk!" I groaned. Owen sighed and put me back down on my feet. "That's much better." I grumbled.

Owen got my backpack and held my hand as we walked outside. His hand reached out and he opened the door for me to get in.

"Come on, your royal cranky pants. Let's go to the dungeon." He chuckled, talking about going to school. I just was not in the mood.
