Part 5: Jenna's Point of View I watched as he walked out the door. I breathed a sigh of relief. Thank goodness he's gone. My mom came downstairs and sat down beside me. "Who was that?" She asked, probably talking about Mason. "Mason, Josh's son. He's in Carter's grade." My mom nodded. "I know exactly who it is. He looks so different. So much more mature.." She trailed off as if she had lost her train of thought. I almost scoffed but I managed to bite my tongue. Mature is the last word that describes Mason Parker. The very last word that would ever pop into my head. "JENNA! COME UP HERE!" I heard Carter yell from upstairs. I thought he was at practice? "Be right back." I told my mom and ran up the stairs. "Yeah?" I asked as I opened the door to Carter's room, it was so neat, so perfect. "Come here." He said and patted the bed beside him, telling me to sit down. His weight shifted as he went to pick something up from under his bed. "I need your opinion on something." A magazine was in his right hand, a jewelry magazine. "I really want to get Taylor something nice. You know, just something special. But I can't decide between these two." He pointed to a really nice picture frame with the letters 'Forever' engraved into it. "You know, I would put a picture of us from kindergarten in it." Then he pointed to a ring. "Or a promise ring.." I sighed and smiled over at him. "I'd go with the picture frame. The ring is a good idea, but I would wait until like an anniversary or something." He nodded and seemed to be taking notes in his mind. His arm wrapped around my shoulder and pulled me into a tight hug. "I don't know what I would do without you." He laughed slightly. "You save me from doing stupid things so much." I smiled up at him. We weren't the classic brother and sister, we were like best friends. "You're there for me too." I laughed. "That's right. And if anyone hurts my little sister, I will kick their as*. No one messes with you." I looked up at him, curiosity getting the better of me. "Carter, why don't you like Mason Parker?" His body stiffened at the slightest mention of his name. "Mason and I never really got along. He was always.. different. I mean, he treats girls like trash. Which is not okay. And he thinks that he's the best thing on the planet. I can't believe girls fawn over him as much as they do. He likes to get girls drunk at parties and do things to them.." I nodded. "Good to know." He raised an eyebrow. "Why do you ask?" "I have to tutor him.." I trailed off, knowing this would piss him off. His jaw set. "If he tries anything on you, I will f*cking kill him."
