Part 52: Owen's Point of View I reached into my locker to grab my books when I heard Jenna's voice come from behind me. "I'll be right back." She said. Within seconds, she was by my side. "Hey Jenna." I smiled at her. "Hi Owen." She replied. "Uhm .. this is kind of awkward to ask, but what should I wear tonight?" Her cheeks flushed a deep shade of red. Oh my goodness. She was adorable. "Just jeans and a sweatshirt. Nothing fancy." Jenna nodded, as if taking mental notes. "Okay, thanks." Her perfect white teeth formed a large smile. "I'll see you around ..?" "5?" I asked, to which she nodded. "I'll pick you up at 5." Jenna turned to leave but I reached out to grab her hand, turning her back to face me. "Happy birthday, Jenna." "Thanks." She smiled again. I let her hand fall from mine and she walked away again. "Duude. You have a date with Jenna Bennett?" I turned to face my best friend, Vinny. "Yeah man. I do." He gave me a high-five. "Score. What are you guys gonna do?" Vinny's real name is Vincent, but he doesn't like that. Plus, Vinny is more suiting for him. "Picnic at the docks, it's her birthday. So I made her a cake, got her a present." I shrugged like it wasn't a big deal, but it was. Vinny laughed. "Dude, you think I didn't know that it was her birthday? PLEASE, last night her dad practically dedicated the game to her." I nodded, he did. "That must be so epic, having your dad be a professional basketball player." "I bet he's gone a lot.." "YEAH, but dude! He plays for the CELTICS." Vinny said. "I bet she misses him all the time.." Vinny nudged my shoulder. "You're such a softy, bro." He laughed. "Yeah? Get used to it." I retorted. He held his hands up in defense. "I'm just saying, bro. Don't get yourself in too deep with this girl." I raised an eyebrow. "Why not?" "She tutors Mason Parker. You know how he is. He sleeps with anything he can get his hands on. If your pencil sharpener had a skirt on it, you'd have to hide it." His words angered me. I shook my head. "There's no way she would ever like that tote bag. Jenna's too good for him."
