Part 45: Jenna's Point of View "Great!" His smile spread even wider. "I'll pick you up at 5." I nodded. "Okay. See you later, Owen." "See ya." He smiled again before walking away. I heard Sydney come up behind me. "Please tell me I didn't just hear Owen Waterman ask you out. I just might die." I nodded. "Yep. You did." I stated simply. My eyes traveled over to Mason. Aubree was looking up at him with a very enthusiastic look on her face. He smirked at her and went back to whatever conversation he was having. I swear I could kill that blitz. Sydney squealed and started jumping up and down. "I CAN'T BELIEVE IT! AHH! Owen is .. PERFECT." She sighed again and followed my gaze. "Mason.." She said. "What about Mason?" "Six months." I replied. Sydney raised an eyebrow but I chose to ignore it. "Come on. We're gonna be late for school." Afterschool "Jenna, wear this! PLEASE! It's adorable!" I groaned and looked at the girly outfit that she had picked out. "What's wrong with the outfit that I have on..?" I asked. "JENNA! OWEN IS HERE!" I heard dad call from downstairs. TWIT! I glanced at the clock. It was 5 already?! "I got it." Sydney said. She stayed sitting on the bed and took a deep breath in. "SHE'S NOT READY! SHE'LL BE DOWN IN LIKE 15 MINUTES." What to wear. What to wear. Zach's Point of View I glared at the young man standing in front of me. He awkwardly played with his car keys. "Where are you taking my daughter?" I asked. He looked up with a very nervous expression on his face. But he looked me in the eyes. That means he can be trusted. Never trust a man who won't look you in the eyes. "Uh. To the movies, sir." I nodded. "Hands to yourself." My voice had an edgy vibe to it. If he hurt my little girl, I swear I'll kill him. He nodded timidly. "Yes sir, of course." I smiled. "You can stop calling me sir. I admire that though. Your parents must have raised you right. You are like a respectful young man .. Mr..?" What was his name? "Waterman." The kid on Carter's team? "Owen Waterman, sir. I mean, Mr. Bennett. I've played on Carter's team since kindergarten." I nodded. "Right, sorry. Bad memory.." "You coached my basketball team, since my freshman year. I'm the other starting guard?" I raised an eyebrow. "Right, of course! Owen!" I had no idea who this kid was.. "Did you dye your hair?" He shook his head. "No sir." "Zach." I corrected him. "Or Mr. Bennett. Whatever floats your boat." Carter came downstairs and did a double take when he saw Owen standing in the kitchen with me. He walked over to us and they did some sort of handshake. I still remember mine and Josh's. Ahh. Boys. "Dude. If you hurt my sister," Carter glanced at me. He was going to swear. I knew it. "I can promise you, I will personally kill you." Owen laughed nervously. "Don't worry man. I won't hurt her." Carter nodded. "Good." Thank goodness I didn't have to go through any of this with Chloe. I mean, I wish I could have met her parents. I wish her dad could have walked her down the aisle rather than mine. But everything happens for a reason. Just as I was having my flashback of Chloe and I as teenagers, she walked into the room looking beautiful as ever. We're really young to be parents. But I don't care. I'd like to see someone with better kids than ours. We're amazing parents. I'm almost 39 and Chloe is 37. I excused myself from the kitchen and followed Chloe upstairs. She was standing in the entrance of Jenna's room. I followed her gaze and saw that she was looking at Jenna. "You look beautiful, hun." Chloe smiled at our daughter. I wrapped my arms around Chloe's waist and kissed her cheek. "She gets her looks from her mother." I whispered in her ear. Jenna rolled her eyes and looked back in to the mirror. "It disgusts me how much you guys love each other. Seriously." She laughed, letting us know she was kidding. Jenna will feel like this one day. One day that special person will come along and make everything worth it. They give you something to believe in, when you have nothing else.
