  5. Part 27: Mason's Point of View

"Heaven." I said with a smirk forming on my face.

"Heaven." She repeated. A laugh escaped her lips.

"Why are you laughing?" I asked curiously.

"Heaven .. it's just, so corny."

"What if I like corny?" The car pulled into her driveway. I got out and walked her to the door.

"Then .. congratulations." She stuttered as I stepped closer to her. Jenna's breathing caught as her back pressed against the wall of the entry way. "You succeeded."

My lips moved closer to hers, hovering just above them. I could feel how nervous she was. "I always succeed." I whispered before pushing my lips down lightly on hers.

Jenna stood there in shock for a moment before she realized what was happening. Her lips moved with mine, in perfect sync. I kissed her again and again and again.

A light flickered on in the house. My lips left hers, leaving her breathless. Jenna's chest was rising and falling rapidly.

I reached up and wiped off her smudged lip gloss from her lips. "I should go." I said softly. "I'll see you later, Heaven."

     Next Day 

"MASON! GET YOUR AS* UP!" Dad yelled from downstairs. I groaned and rolled over.

"DON'T MAKE ME COME UP THERE, YOUNG MAN!" He shouted.

My arm went to hug something, but it hit the sheet. What was I expecting to hug? That was weird. I groaned again and sat up, holding my head with my hands.

The door to my room shot open. "MASON P - oh .. you're up." I looked to the doorway and saw dad standing there, with a bag of gummy sharks in his hand. I don't think I've ever seen him without them.

"Why do I have to get up? You usually let me sleep in on Saturdays." I complained. It's true. He never bothers me on Saturdays.

"Your mother and I have something to talk to you about." He said.

"Am I in trouble?" The only reason he ever wanted to talk to me was when I was in trouble.

"No. Not this time." He chuckled. "Just get up and get dressed." With that, he left the room.

I got up and took a shower, then got dressed and went downstairs. "Okay. What is it?" I asked as I plopped down at the kitchen table.

Mom and dad both had very odd expressions on their faces. "Mason, you know we love you, right?"

    "I guess so." I shrugged.

"Well," Mom began. "Mason hun, I can't have kids." I nodded, I knew this. "After we had Colton, your father and I wanted another son.." She trailed off.

"So? Mom, what are you trying to say?" Where was she going with this?

"Mason, you're adopted." My dad said.

My entire world came crashing down as I sat there in disbelief.

I stood up abruptly. "Are you f*cking kidding me?!" I was livid. "Has my whole entire life been a f*cking lie?!"

I started pacing back and forth as I ran my hands through my hair. My breathing was uneven and I felt as though my lungs were going to collapse.

I grabbed my jacket and shrugged it on over my shoulders.

"I'm out of here." I spat as I shut the front door.
