After the conference Raine started telling me about all her friends she had pointed out. I wasn't listening but I could tell she was really happy... Just then she stopped. "Raine? What are you doing?" "That guy..." She seemed mesmerized for a second and then she took off. She ran down the sidewalk. "Raine! Hey!" I shouted and I ran after her. "Wait! Stop! Please!" she called out to a kid on a bike. But he didn't stop and she took a step onto the road. "Idiot!" I shouted and pulled her back just as a car went racing by. We both fell to the ground and she fell into my lap. I sighed. "Just what were you thinking!" I demanded. "I-I'm sorry! I just wanted to... never mind..." she whispered. "You could've been run over! Idiot! Don't do such stupid things because next time I might not be there." "S-sorry..." "Come on," I sighed. "We should get home, it's pretty late." She nodded and she followed me to the car. She didn't mutter a single word on the way home, nor when we got home either. She immediately went to her room and didn't come out for the entire evening. "Damn... was I too rough? No... It was her fault for being so stupid." I looked out the window. "Crap..." "Raine you are going to your grandmother's today," I told her. "I'm busy so you'll be staying with her for a few days... maybe three," I told her the next morning. She nodded and she went to her room and started packing. "She's still not speaking to me? Just what the hell did I do? I saved her from death and scolded her!" I sighed. Oh well... At least I have three days of quiet alone time... but why did I feel so guilty?
