Rafe's POV She was gone. Damn it... why did I feel this way? I wanted her back... to be with me even though I would most likely ignore her the entire time. "I know I promised to keep her safe," I said quietly. "I'm sorry Katherine... but it's harder than it seems." I looked at the phone. "Damn it..." I said and I quickly picked it up and phoned Hannah. "Hello?" she said. "Hannah. It's me," I said. "Bring her home. I want you to being Raine home," I said coldly. "How dare you! Don't you dare say you want to see her!" "Hannah. I just want to be with her... that's all. Please. I'm doing this for Katherine. She wanted me to keep her safe and happy and that's what I intend to do." "You have never made that girl happy! She asked me something in the car today... Know what it was? She asked me if you loved her. Tell me how that's keeping her happy?" "Just give me a chance," I said. "Please... just give me another chance." She sighed. "Fine. I will bring her over now... And don't you dare neglect her! Or I will find her a permanent home miles and miles away from you! I swear it on my own daughter's grave!" she shouted and she hung up the phone. I placed the phone on the kitchen counter and placed a hand on my head. Oh God... what did I just do? Minutes later the doorbell rang and my heart began to race. Oh no... I couldn't do this. Not at all! I went over and answered the door. I looked down to see Raine. She was smiling. "Hi again, Daddy!" she said grinning. I gulped and looked at Hannah. She was glaring at me and I quickly looked away. "Hi Raine. Come inside," I said to her. "Yes!" she said and she took her things and came inside. I watched as she went up to her room and I turned back to look at Hannah again. "I told you this on the phone. If that girl so much as cries I will be sure to put her with another family who will love her! Even if it is me!" she said and she left, closing the front door behind her. I frowned. Damn it... this was going to be harder than it seemed... "Daddy? Can we go to the park today?" asked Raine as she came bounding down the stairs. I looked at her then sighed and turned away. "No. I'm too busy today. If you want to go... go by yourself, I don't mind," I said somewhat harshly. "Um... okay..." she said quietly. I closed my eyes. This was definitely going to be hard to make her happy because I couldn't even attempt to make myself happy around her... I just... couldn't...
