Showcase tabs

  1. Showcase tabs have bothered me for a while, and many players have suggested further ways to easily sort items, or potentially have a central trading hub like the Grand Exchange on Runescape...

But we are very far away from that, and
to demonstrate how far away we are, we need only look at how well the developers have managed to sort items into 6 categories:

    Boxes *
    Gifts *
    Stat *
    Sticker
    Pets
    Furniture

Of these, the first 3 show inaccuracies, either by having defunct names, serving a lesser function, not having adequate counterparts, or by either missing items they should have, or by including items that don't belong.

I have sent the developers messages about this and despite the fixes being quite simple, they're taking a very long time to get to it. So I'd like to make this thread to put them on notice and perhaps act as a time capsule for things before the fix.

    Boxes

The boxes tab does an insufficient job at including all boxes and accounting for the way that they fade into and interact with keys.

The only boxes that are included are boxes which can still be opened however it excludes the following boxes

The final few listed were part of a period in which whether the devs wanted to use keys or boxes wasn't so much set in stone, and a hunt might have a key and a box for us to collect each hunt which would each interact with another key and box in store.

It also brings into question why the tab only includes boxes and not keys. In the modern pimd, we only have 2 functional keys: the PIMkey and Amazing Furniture Key, and it wouldn't be too hard to put them at the top of the list, along with the Mod crate and PIMD crate which aren't in the box section yet either for some reasons so can we have all of that fixed? Thanks.

    Gifts

This contains an Ask Out token, an old T10 item: Antdude plush, and these leaderboard bears, as well as like all of the shards, ever. An in regard to the shards: fair game to have them separate and somewhere but why not in their own tab?

They share nothing in common with gifts except that the point of them was for us to be able to effectively trade our way to an avatar and for that gifting and trading to increase and rewards player-to-player interaction, but ANYWAY.

Also maybe the ask-out token works like a hidden gift when you wish to ask someone out so it's cool like that and we have some insight into how that mechanic is coded and read by the game. And maybe that antdude plush (it's like one of the first t10 items after some of the early scavenger hunts) so maybe it was gifted to players by the devs and so we have a window into how that worked? Yay?

And then finally, in this section, like all of the regiftable ec gifts are missing. They somehow managed to include many old gifts that some players might not have known were gifts, but for 3 hunts in a row, the ec gifts were regiftable and have become widely-traded rares. Also one regiftable item that's just like a regular cash gift.

So sort that out, too. Get the shards a tab, remove the leaderboard items, and put the missing gifts in.

    Stats

What a useless title and category. Items with stats, including all furniture, but only really excluding boxes, shards, and Scavenger items. Why? All of those items would have belonged in the regular section of the showcase before.

The title for this tab should be changed to 'showcase' or 'classic' or idk. But stats is dumb.

Thanks to it, the only place you can find scavenger items is the 'all' and 'search' tabs.

And you can't search through your items by stats without stumbling over all sorts of irrelevant furniture.

This tab has the wrong title and does nothing useful.

One of the prime sorting options people would want is Everything Except Furniture, and we get that nowhere, except when sorting items chronologically because then furniture chills out at the bottom and we can't see what hunts they lined up with which is fantastic because that is also something that many people would find useful.

    In conclusion:

Guide for gift prices coming out, soon. Anyone wanna help me figure out what the deviled egg chick, ask-out token, and neoemperor watch are worth? Along with the old permanent gifts

And also getting this sorted out will help people know what's what and find what they want.

  3. I'm actually okay with the way things are. I feel like most people probably don't have issues with the way it is, and it's likely you do because you're an item collector rather than someone who just collects based on misc

    Ghastly likes this.
  4. Trading is a big part of the game, these days.
