back in my day we rp-ed on [3rd party instant messaging app that's obsolete and no one uses anymore] but I also was 13 and had dial up. I don't really get why people roleplay here, not bashing, just... With instant messages roleplay was fluid and easy. In a forum it seems like I'd forget what I did a day ago ehh... I can't talk bc I haven't bothered to open one of those threads. Also... Back in my day "fanfiction" was fiction wrote about a faniverse, such as Gundam Wing, Pokemon, or Naruto (LOL, I used to write on those), to movies, books or anything already created. There were even dedicated websites on which I'm still published although the material is not suitable for these forums I'm sure. As there's no fiction section here, people have used "fanfiction" loosely to mean fiction written by... Fans I suppose. It's not the meaning but I write original content here as well. So... Really, I can't complain if people want to roleplay here. It's creative freedom. And a thread won't stop them from doing it. But. That's my two cents, take it or leave it. It certainly stops me from finding my threads easily but if I have fans then they'll help bump them for me
I have to say I have no idea what has become of FF. I was originally Blood_Roze, but then sadly I lost my iPod(but I got an iPhone instead! Those straight A's for 4 years finally paid off!) I was gone for about a month and half or so. More or less. I was so excited to come back to FF because I wanted to see my old friends and the stories I use to spam with them. But when I returned I come upon crap. Where were all the good stories you ask? Pushed back, some as far as the 5TH PAGE! Yes, the RPs are extremely overpowering the FF. I am a not a story writer/poster. I've written one story (Naturalist), but failed miserably and discontinued it after the first post. Now I usually read stories or join mini writer cafes and jump in the few RP that know what A PLOT IS!!! I find it disappointing when the maker if the RP's skeleton is larger than his or her plot, and even more disappointing when the poster forgets to even make the skeleton. Me: Um, where's the skeleton? Owner(in a retarded voice): Uh oh yeah I forgot. Just put down name, age, picture, and personality. Me: << Really? Rose out. Bitch please, that shit ain't cute anymore I know you noobs want to grab attention and be major pops, (my abbreviation for the word popular for those of you who didn't know) I did too when I first started. Even if you say, "Oh, I'm not like that!" Yes, yes you are like that. We all are like that. Humans were created to act competitive. So suck it up and get over it. And a tip for those who try to become "cool". Don't rush it you'll get there,eventually(probably never). Also it's not only RPs that are driving me up the wall, bad stories are doing the same thing. I see about 30 million romance stories out there. I, for one, love romances (maybe because I haven't had a boyfriend for a year or that I'm a fantasy chick, whatever) ORIGINALITY PEOPLE!!! If you're going to do a romance, at least make it different from the others. Next topic of discussion, GRAMMAR. OMFG GRAMMAR GRAMMAR GRAMMAR. I don't like writing, I'm more of a math person. But I'm an perfectionist. I like to critic people and pick out their mistakes. Like to v.s. too or our against are. People come on! Unless you story include writing in which to character are communicating with each other over the Internet, this is not one huge text message! SPELL OUT YOUR WORDS! Not u, YOU. Not cuz, BECAUSE! Sweet baby Jesus in a manger on Christmas day is it really that difficult for you? No lie, this is 100% true but I'VE SEEN 4TH GRADERS WITH BETTER GRAMMAR THAN YOU! Compared with high schoolers? That's just dropped dead shameful. New people and noobs, don't be ashamed to ask for help, or what things mean. WE WILL HELP YOU! At least a good majority of us. And writers, the professionals(you know who I'm talking to), help the noobs out. They don't know the difference between a farm and a volley. Ok I'm finally done. I can't speak for others, but here are my thoughts. Fan fiction, although not true fan fiction, is a place for story writing. It's what it's been known for. I am against role plays being here. They really aren't creative at all, just a mess. If the qualities improved the story would be different, but I suppose people have taken to quantity over quality. As for making threads about characters, I've done it once for the sole purpose of including people. It's fun to be in a story knowing you're in it and seeing what the author does with you. The point isn't simply to have free characters delivered on your doorstep.
