i do, but white people do not have the hair type to form proper dreads. it's technically just matted hair on white people (and by extension almost everyone nonblack). dreads are a very wonderful protective hairstyle when you have the correct hair type and the knowledge on how to maintain them.
If they're of the.....Caucasian variant yes they do have an odd odor to them, but only because of the technique needed to get them.
i don't know if that's a geuine question and i also don't know your race so feel free to correct me, but there's a big difference between cultural appreciation and appropriation. im nobody to accuse you of either, it's just not something im use to. black men and women in schools and work places, and even everyday life, get ridiculed for their right to rock natural hair styles, but other's outside of their race get told their hair is "trendy" and a "statement". with that being said, no, i don't hate dreads, and neither does anyone else who took notice of them after my comment. some people claim them as a cultural thing while others claim them as nothing more than a fashionable thing. they do hold a religious and deeper historical meaning than just a hairstyle, which i would except someone with them to know and respect. there's always gonna be people who disagree or feel strongly against dreads on certain people, but that's life. i just thought it was an interesting choice.
I enjoy how everyone was complimenting until the hair was noticed then it was all about the hair, still a good photo tho
"enjoy" is a funny way to put it. the hair was the first thing i noticed, doesn't take away from the rest of the picture. it's more than just hair to some people.
The way I see it you're blowing this out of proportion. It's her hair she is free to do whatever with it. If you're offended it's your problem. Deal will it or sob in a corner.
all i said was it was an interesting choice, i don't need to be pressed about someone's hair, but if someone asks an odd question like, "if i don't like dreads", it'll be answered. if my answer bothers you, feel free to disagree, like i said people would.
literally no one including myself rescinded our compliments based on her hair choice. i still think she's pretty even if i think she needs a different hair style that fits her hair type better. and she asked if i had an issue with dreads and i answered. there's no need for you to be passive aggressive. nobody suggested that it wasn't a good photo.
Y’all took my light hearted comment too strongly there was no passive aggressiveness lol I ain’t about to waste my time being that way
