THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT I MEAN. Someone says something about themselves. Someone else said THEY were wrong. How can you be sure what someone else feels? Why MUST it be inside them from the start? You also agreed that it was "pushed along" because you heard it worked. Should avenues where ppl can see examples of this type of "behavior" be freely open for everyone?
Basically if you want to take anything I say to heart, Just think about this: When you hear negative things, you feel that there is no hope. You get deeper into despair. No way out. When you hear positive things, you could start to wonder that maybe that good things could also happen to you? Maybe you could feel positive? Maybe even be inspired to not give up?
Actually, therapy is about going over your feelings, and finding the root cause, then talking through it to a point where you're more comfortable within yourself to be able to live a happy life. Sometimes medication is also needed, in addition- not substitue- for therapy, to balance out the chemicals in your brain. When depression is severe enough, it can stop your whole life. You don't want to interact with anyone, and you can become physically affected. My depression manifested physically, in the form of migraines, and severe stomach cramps. You may not see this as beneficial, but I have been in the same exact spot where some of these people are right now. That's why I keep stressing they are not alone, and they are not wrong to be depressed. In fact, someone messaged me asking me questions because she wasn't sure if it was depression, or normal teenage moodiness. From what she had expressed to me, it sounded like depression, and I suggested to her that she should talk to an adult that she trusts, so she can get the help to start feeling better.
As I had stated, my mother is a psychotherapist, and I habe taken psychology courses myself. So I'm not just talking out of my ass here. I am talking from proven therapy techniques (idea of group therapy), text book standpoint, and personal experience.
Wow i just read all this and am very suprised. I had no idea that this ws so common and am glad that im not alone
It is very common. Almost everyone deals with some form of depression at some point in their lives. As I had said, it is still thought of as a bit taboo to openly discuss, even though todays society is getting a bit better about being more open and accepting.
