  1. Honestly, this hunt was based on punk culture so ignoring LGBTQ involvement in the Punk scene is like ignoring the T in LGBT. Which is actually pretty common. The movement came about to challenge established norms in society.
    Queer as a reclaimed identity has a long history dating back to Stonewall. It makes sense to include LGBTQ involvement in punk culture since both actively challenged societal norms. Neither settled on making people comfortable. “We’re here. We’re Queer. Get used to it.” It’s easy to get complacent when it’s politically correct to support gay rights, but it wasn’t that long ago that people blamed the LGBTQ community for AIDs. When you say that queer is a slur, are you helping people or are you reinforcing the silencing of frequently marginalized voices?
