Redskins Name Change Debate

  1. Everything is offensive nowadays. Who ever has a problem with their name can go sit down, there's bigger issues out there to worry about.

  2. It have already been settle. The Washington redskins r able to keep name. The Native American who oppose the team name said dat it is a racial slur to dem. and dey r hoping dat the owner of the team will change the name willingly

  3. What's another racial slur no one really uses.... Hmmm Cracker. Someone should name their team "The Crackers." What's a really white state? Mississippi? The Mississippi Crackers.

  4. I think that the real issue here isn't the name of a sports team, but the actual lack of recognition, respect, and tolerance for First Nations people.

I don't know how big of an issue this is in the US, but in Canada, the treatment of First Nations people is a big deal. They've been forced to assimilate into mainstream culture with no respect for their way of life and yet are still treated like second-class society by many of their European counterparts. The racism against First Nations people is systemic, and a lot the time, people aren't even aware that they are engaging in it.

I say, who cares about some football team's name-- let's change the way we treat people, regardless of their race. Equality's the name of the game, ladies and gents: mandybear out.
