pimd-like math problem

  1. I could try but I probably won't get it right.
     
  2. Nevermind, I'm not trying. Without knowing how to relate the two equations (the original equation and the one for the Nth equation) I'd have to do this over and over for each one of the Nths. I'd need to do an equation for each attack 1-10.
     
  3. After the 6th attack you'd be relying totally on items for success. Seems pointless to attempt to hit something that hard to beat anyway. 
     
  4. Haven't done derivatives since 7th grade.
    GAH, I'M TOO TIRED TO CARE 'BOUT THIS.

  10. Melly, you can get a 100% chance to win if you buy enough items but to maximize profit it actually isn't best I this case to buy enough items to give yourself a 100% chance of winning after you solve for the optimal value.

    iex, I just wrote down the solution for part 2 but will not post just yet, I'll let ya see how u did 

  12. You are close! You have done some things correctly but there is still something off. Note that you should be able to plug in n=1 and get the equation you had previously.

  14. Actually what you wrote down is the exact same thing I wrote down the first time I tried solving it. At N=0 you have the same equation as before but remember that if it's for the Nth attack, you start off with your 1st attack.
     
  15. My camera is getting blurrier and blurrier. Lol. I'm fairly certain that's right because the first attempt should give the maximum money because you haven't lost energy yet.
