This sounds like a great compromise. It's still a tweak, people will need a bit more work to reach the tier but it's not as crazy as the actual change and seems reasonable. Most people are able to reach 8k but few get to 16k (and we know which few).
Sometimes it scares me how much this game feeds on gambling. People with addiction issues should probably stay away because everything's constructed to maximize profit by making you want to try your luck one more time. Having to open over 600 boxes to get an avatar is kinda insane.
Yeah, people should think wisely before spending money on this game. The mechanic itself isn’t necessarily a problem that needs to be changed though. Many games use gacha/loot box/other gambling types as their core mechanic for monetization and it is allowed
