  4. Once you join the server you’ll have the ability to change your nickname if you’d like. It is not required.

  7. Like @Day said, you have the opportunity to set your name to a server-specific nickname. A lot of people choose to set it to their IGN, but overall it is optional. If you want to join but find your actual Discord name to be weird, you can join and set a different nickname for the server.
